Hayden dropped a disappointing one to Emporia. Otherwise, the Wildcats are off to a great start, working in some new pieces. An old piece – the powerful post Otting – is working out nicely. He scored 23 points and grabbed 11 boards in a big win against Bishop Ward.

There’s no question Otting is one of the top basketball players in the city. The question is, will he play basketball this season. He committed to play football at Notre Dame next season, and, like so many football recruits, he will have the option to leave high school early to jump start his football career. If Otting sticks around, he’s a crafty center who has a unique low post game. He uses his size and light feet to create shots around the goal. And no one is pushing this guy off the block.
