The Frontrunners:
Aidan Wing Aidan Wing 6'4" | SF Bishop Miege | 2023 State KS – You have to consider Miege the favorite to win 4A state, so that would make Wing a frontrunner for Most Outstanding Player. He’s the Stags unquestioned leader and top producer. He’s averaging 20 points per game and has experience on a title team.
Logan Sullivan Logan Sullivan 6'3" | SG Eudora | 2024 State KS – Eudora has surprised by returning to the top ranks of 4A despite some losses of key big men. Sullivan is now the go-to guy for the Cardinals. He’s a natural scorer who gets it done in a variety of ways. With his limitless range and ability to penetrate and create shots, he gives Eudora a chance to score at all times.
The Risers:
Cory Muehler Cory Muehler 5'11" | CG McPherson | 2024 State KS – McPherson is rolling and looks to make noise at state once again this year. Muehler made a lot of fans with his play under the bright lights as a sophomore, and he’s the leader of the Bullpups this season. He’s not a guy who compiles enormous stats. He doesn’t have to for his deep and talented team. But he’s a guy who demonstrates leadership and playmaking.
Caleb Carr Caleb Carr 5'11" | PG Baldwin | 2023 State KS – This has been Carr’s year. He stood out on the soccer field and cross country course. Why not consider him for Most Outstanding Player too? He’s leading his Bulldogs toward postseason by doing everything from the point guard spot. He is averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists as the veteran leader.
The Sneakers:
Trey Carter Trey Carter 5'9" | PG Atchison | 2024 State KS – A few months ago, Carter’s name probably wasn’t on anyone’s list for statewide accolades. But if you’ve seen him play, you recognize just how much he means to the Phoenix. He’s the steady hand at point and a creator who helps his teammates succeed. His stat line won’t stand out. But if the Phoenix live up to their #2 ranking in the postseason, Carter will have to be big. He’s a guy to watch because he deserves a ton of credit for Atchison’s success.
Ryle Riddlesperger Ryle Riddlesperger 6'2" | PG Hugoton | 2023 State KS (pictured) – Riddlesperger is a ‘sneaker’ for a couple of reasons: 1) Hugoton made the jump to 4A this year, so no one knows how they’ll match up in the playoffs, and 2) he might not even be the best player on his team. You could argue that Carson Bennett Carson Bennett 6'2" | SF Hugoton | 2023 State KS is just as talented and just as important to the Eagles’ success. But Riddlesperger is a scorer. There’s a good chance that, if the Eagles make a run, Riddlesperger will be filling it up. He is good for about 17 points per game, and he often goes for bigger totals.
Joe Otting Joe Otting 6'3" | C Hayden | 2023 State KS – Otting is on the outside track in this race once again. Hayden plays a tough regular season schedule and therefore are often unranked in 4A. But if last year is any indication, the Wildcats are building toward the postseason, and Otting will stand out on the big stage once again. He’s a unique athlete who competes and plays with pride. He is capable of dominating in big games.
