This weekend, All-Academic Basketball brought their showcase to Finch Creek Fieldhouse in Noblesville. The event featured several high-academic prospects from around the Midwest and beyond with a number of small college coaches in attendance. Prep Hoops Indiana was in the gym Sunday morning to catch a few hours worth of action. Here are the top performers from the showcase.

Myles Baker (Lawrence North H.S. 2024)

Despite being just a sophomore, Baker quickly made a name for himself as one of the best players in the gym on Sunday morning. The 5’10" guard scored it from all three levels showing off a great looking shot. Very tough to stop in transition. Showed off good court vision and passing ability as well. Just an all-around playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id="935741" first="Ty" last="Cunningham"] (Lawrence North H.S. 2023)

Cunningham, by all accounts, looked like one of the best players at the event on Saturday and that carried over to more success on Sunday. A 6’1" guard, Cunningham is at his best attacking the basket off of the dribble. He is a great driver from the wings and an athletic finisher around the rim. Has the ability to play either guard spot.

Ibrahim Diakite (Cardinal Ritter H.S. 2023)

Very, very intriguing prospect. Diakite is a 6’8" forward with excellent length. He can protect the rim on the defensive end and finishes above the rim offensively. His overall skill set is a bit raw, but as a finisher, rebounder, and shot blocker he has some nice tools. Definitely a big guy to keep an eye on going into his junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068137" first="Brandon" last="McCaskill"] (Crandbrook Kingswood H.S. 2022)

McCaskill is a scoring guard with a lot of tools that college coaches will like. He has great size at 6’3" with a lot of skill to his game. McCaskill showed the ability to create his own shot off of the dribble and scored both on mid-range jumpers and getting all the way to the rim to finish. This is a scholarship-worthy player from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Excellent student.

[player_tooltip player_id="935744" first="James" last="Stasey"] (Fishers H.S. 2023)

Stasey remains one of my favorite under-the-radar prospects in Indiana’s 2023 class. He is a true 6’8" after growing a couple of inches since last high school season. Stasey plays very hard, tries to get deep post catches, and rebounds in his area very well. Classic 5-man that could really become a problem inside as he gets stronger.

[player_tooltip player_id="1111173" first="Eric" last="Wentz"] (Minot H.S. 2022)

Hailing all the way from North Dakota, Wentz really turned heads Sunday morning by playing at a very high level. This is a guy that high-academic Division III’s all over the country should be recruiting. He has good size on the wing at 6’2"-6’3". Wentz is extremely skilled as well. He is a knock down three-pointer shooter and can finish with both hands at the end of his drives. Excellent student.
