Prep Hoops took in the action from the Big Shots Myrtle Beach Finale this past weekend at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. The field was a bit small according to Big Shots traditionally using just 6 courts in the facility. Lets take a look at some of the 2024 Top Performers we were able to watch play while we were in attendance.

[player_tooltip player_id="1016449" first="Phillip" last="McLean"] - Carolina Forest HS - Elite Ballers 16U

McLean has been playing all summer with Flight 22 on the UA Rise Circuit. McLean a back to the basket post player really looks to battle down inside the paint. Phillip will also play football this coming fall for the Panthers in the Class 5A ranks. McLean is best suited in a half court set still. Phillip looks to work hard down low and doesn't mind playing on contact ad utilizing all 5 fouls while on the floor.

Santana Mayes - Conway HS - Ascend Ballers

Mayes made a lasting impression despite his team losing today. Mayes seemed most effective while attacking the cup and dropping some floaters along the way. Santana played aggressive on both ends and really showed good body control while attacking the basket. Mayes plays the game very unselfish and was always looking to set-up a teammate with a pass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1261486" first="David" last="Thomas"] - PikeView HS (Princeton, WV) - West Virginia Crossover (pictured on front)

Thomas was a nice surprise here from the Mountaineer State. Thomas is very lite on feet with his constant energy and movement towards the ball. Thomas shows to have some good bounce and really cleaned up on the glass here today. Thomas did all of his damage around the basket on just effort points.

[player_tooltip player_id="1261482" first="Elijah" last="Redfern"] - Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV) - West Virginia Crossover

Redfern really has a good feel for the game and was always setting up his teammates today with his unselfish play. Elijah at times today seemed one step ahead of his teammates with his feel for the game and basketball IQ. Redfern knocked down a few open looks when he wasn't making crisp passes along the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="1261483" first="Kris" last="Joyce"] - Princeton HS (2023) - West Virginia Crossover

I didn't want to leave this young man out of here despite being in the 2023 class. Joyce was able to shake-bake at times while penetrating the gaps. Joyce has a lot of confidence in his game and it showed today with his play. Kris was able to get the ball to the cup and finish at will at times today.
