What players pushed their stock to the higher levels of college basketball this 17u season? Prep Hoops breaks that down now as we update our 2022 prospect rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="958715" first="Pharrel" last="Payne"] of Park of Cottage Grove (Minnesota Select). Pharrel is the national headliner when it comes to major stock risers. He’s currently on an official visit to the University of Minnesota and had an incredible summer putting up monster 17u numbers against the shoe teams he faced, versus the best local squads, and against the top level national Prep Hoops Circuit teams Select faced. Top 100 level national talent.

Top Five

[player_tooltip player_id="1143878" first="Leo" last="Torbor"] of Park Center (Minnesota Select). [player_tooltip player_id="1143878" first="Leo" last="Torbor"] was a Park Center role player last winter that defended hard, scored in active ways, and helped the Pirates be a top five team. Then he had a brilliant spring playing lead guard for Select and help them win 41 games as both the main ball handler and the player drawing the top defensive assignment. Throw in a double figure scoring average for Select as a player just starting to develop and you have a prospect that is D1 offered and jumped a 100 spots in the rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139741" first="Logan" last="Kinsey"] of Spring Lake Park (MSP Elite). Logan had a nice junior year averaging about nine points and six boards a game for a good team. But, this spring and summer playing with MSP as well as Select at times, [player_tooltip player_id="1139741" first="Logan" last="Kinsey"] showed that his potential is at a very high level. His explosiveness, touch, skill, and physical approach to the game has me thinking that the Dragons got a steal. Kinsey has D1 talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="958681" first="Brayden" last="Williams"] of Owatonna (Minnesota Rise). When it comes to shifty playmaking, Williams ranks with the better in this class. He had a brilliant season for Owatonna leading them to state and then handling the dual responsibilities for the Rise, Williams put up some excellent numbers against some of the better guards in the state. He’s going to jump from the back end of the top 100 to the top 35.

[player_tooltip player_id="958729" first="Ayouba" last="Berthe"] of Park Center (Minnesota Heat). When it comes to defenders Berthe ranks with the best. Berthe is a relentless, hard working, strong 6’4 wing that has the lateral steps and the fight to defend some of the best players in the state. He’s another player that will make a 50 spot jump in the rankings and we think D2’s would love to have Berthe as a worker in their program.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144099" first="Jaden" last="Wysocki"] of Rochester Century (Minnesota Lightning). Looking for another 100 spot jumper (like Kinsey and Torbor)? That’s [player_tooltip player_id="1144099" first="Jaden" last="Wysocki"]. The 6’6 forward was just offered by Minot State and we think they were very smart in doing so. Jaden is explosive, face-up talented, but also plays the active game of a four man.

Five More

[player_tooltip player_id="958646" first="Jasper" last="Hedin"] of Winona (Minnesota Comets). With a strong season as a Comet, Hedin’s 6’5 athletic ability and skilled production went from a "maybe a D2 prospect" to a player visiting division one schools.

[player_tooltip player_id="958669" first="Kenji" last="Scales"] of Eastview (Minnesota Select). The [player_tooltip player_id="958669" first="Kenji" last="Scales"] second half scoring nature has coaches excited for his future. He can play both guard spots and I think can be a fantastic D2 guard. He’s a top 30 level talent in this strong class.

[player_tooltip player_id="958652" first="Makuei" last="Riek"] of Rochester Mayo (Minnesota Heat). Riek took another step towards his big potential this winter making shots for the Heat in bulk. Great size as a wing shooter, if he takes another big step this winter the sky is the limit.

[player_tooltip player_id="958683" first="Mason" last="Lund"] of Sartell (Minnesota Comets Belka). Coming into the 17u season [player_tooltip player_id="958683" first="Mason" last="Lund"] was a potential NSIC scholarship guy. After an excellent 17u year Lund earned four NSIC offers and recently committed to SMSU.

[player_tooltip player_id="958675" first="Hakeem" last="Ford"] of Minneapolis Southwest (Minnesota Heat Grow). The physical gifts of Ford are starting to turn into consistent production. The potential has always been there and with Heat Grow, Ford started to become a more consistently productive player.
