Boy, can Zundt score the basketball.
The 5-foot-7-inch sophomore guard gave an opposing team a 24-point Zundt cake as he not only manufactured for himself, but he also assisted teammates as his fellow Kings tallied 9, 10, and 11 points, just to name a few. You can’t talk about Zundt’s offensive game without talking about his pace.
His ability to control the ball at top gear may have been the individual skill that was paramountly conducive to his team’s success as it won by 26 points. Where the Kings were able to rack up their total was in transition, which often started with Zundt dashing through the open court to simply exploit a slower opposing backcourt.
He also played at high gear while rarely committing a turnover, quite the opposite of the expectation for a player of his style.
Also a well-developed aspect to Zundt’s game his ability to score with either hand — and not just in the open court. He regularly switched between his left and right, while facing contact, on lay-ups and runners alike, including one exceptionally mature left-handed runner against contact that flirted with the glass before falling through the net.
Eli Chambers | Texas Tarheels Elite |
5’9” G | Lewisville (TX) ’24 |
- Strong finisher
- Versatile scoring guard
Chambers was able to consistently create his own shot in a 31-point victory’s Saturday evening.
He has a good handle, is shifty, and can find his way into gaps to score, often putting up shots with hands flying around him but somehow placing the ball on-target. His 14 points were tied for a team-best as he helped the Tarheels to a romp over the opposing team.
Dax Hovind | Texas Tarheels Elite |
6’3” F | Frisco Memorial (TX) ’24 |
- All-around forward
- Stabling presence
A talented rebounder, scorer and defender, Hovind was all over the floor Saturday evening.
Having quite frequently found himself sprinting ahead in the full-court out of Tarheels rebounds, accruing most of his tally by outspending the opposing defense and receiving a well-placed down-court pass for easy transition points.
Additionally, he handles the ball really well considering his position, in contrast with younger lanky forwards who can hardly dribble with their left hand, and he was even responsible for some playmaking from the pass, potentially indicative of a strong basketball iQ.
Nathan Kim | Texas Tarheels Elite |
5’8” PG | Trinity Christian Academy (TX) ’24 |
- Keen facilitator
- Generator
Kim’s habitual, if not constant, movement and reversal of the ball led to the Tarheels’ busting of the opposing team’s zone en route to a 31-point victory.
He well understood the assignment and has great acquaintance with his teammates while playing in the Tarheels’ offensive sets, and though he only put 14 points on the board himself (we’ll get to that in a moment) he was fully or partially responsible for manufacturing many clean looks for his teammates, especially perimeter shooters.
Kim shot the ball well himself as he knocked down two 3-pointers. He also shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
