The Las Vegas Summer Championships continued on Saturday as bracket play got underway. Once again we got a chance to take in quite a few games involving Oregon-based teams or Oregon players on out-of-state teams. Here are the top performers:

[player_tooltip player_id="857342" first="Dallon" last="Morgan"], Oregon Propects 17U (2022 Sprague)

It took a couple of games to find his niche, but Morgan had a solid Saturday. The 6-foot-10 post got really physical inside and converted some tough buckets, finishing through plenty of contact. He also did what he does well, shoot from the perimeter as he spotted up and knocked down threes. Morgan ran the floor well and we’ll have an update posted on him soon.

[player_tooltip player_id="857344" first="Max" last="Von Arx"], Oregon Prospects 17U Select (2022 Grant)

Overall it’s been a real team effort for Prospects Select but on Saturday, von Arx seemed to stick out a little more. He was extremely active around the lane using his length and motor to really battle on the boards and make a difference defensively. He also got his scoring game on, either getting putbacks or converting quickly on passes to him down in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id="1229398" first="Cash" last="Corder"], Oregon Prospects 2022 (2022 Seaside)

We’ve noticed that Corder prefers to operate more from the outside, but with the 2022 squad losing [player_tooltip player_id="1079534" first="Tane" last="Prictor"] due to a knee injury early on in the day, the 6-foot-7 rising senior was called into service down low. He delivered, especially on the boards and defensively where his length made a difference in contesting shots. Offensively he was able to step outside and hit a couple of threes, showing off his nice perimeter touch.

Nathan Hoisington, Oregon Prospects 16U Gold (2023 Mountain View)

Hoisington has the requisite size at 6-foot-5 and stature to project as a wing and the difference he made for the Prospects Gold squad on Saturday was particularly on the defensive end. He made a couple of huge steals to help the team preserve a lead going into overtime and also got a couple of big buckets during the game. He’s a hard-nosed competitor that isn’t afraid to get down and dirty in the trenches.

[player_tooltip player_id="1110580" first="Pearson" last="Carmichael"], Oregon Prospects 2024 (2024 Summit)

Carmichael is another young Bend-area guy that continues to impress us. While he’s playing a little out of position on this team as he’s a natural wing, when he is able to attack from the perimeter he’s able to use his 6-foot-5 size and length to get to the basket and score. Carmichael also has a very nice looking stroke from three-point range and he was able to knock down some open ones.
