The Riverside Brookfield Shootout this past weekend was a great opportunity to get evaluations on prospects from across the classes from around the Chicagoland area. Our post event coverage features 100+ scouting reports on prospects in the event. Here is Riverside Brookfield: 2022 Evaluations Pt 3!

[player_tooltip player_id="1210383" first="Javon" last="Johnson"] (Proviso East)

Johnson is the more unheralded of the Proviso East brothers, but he has game. Good strength at the lead guard spot and has a burst to the rim off the bounce finishing well through contact. More of a scorer at this stage that projects as a small college or developmental JUCO prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="863599" first="Emondrek" last="Ford"] (Bloom)

Ford had a nice weekend at RB. The long and rangy four man played with the highest motor we have seen out of him during his career. He was a force blocking shots using his length and quickness off the floor to swat shots. Offensively he was quick to the glass, ran the floor, finished dump offs, and occasionally hit a face up jumper. Will need to add more strength, but if he plays with intensity he did over the weekend at Ridgewood he is going to land multiple D1 offers at the low-major level.

Markwan Adams (Bloom)

Adams put his name on our radar with a nice showing. The point guard has decent handles and was effective making scoring plays in the lane. Late blooming senior is worth a peak for a small college or JUCO programs.

[player_tooltip player_id="925178" first="Kyle" last="Thomas"] (Fenwick)

Thomas is the top center prospect in the 2022 class. Legit size, strength, and athleticism to play at the high-major level. He was solid on Saturday and really put together a nice performance on Sunday when we saw him. Ran the floor for dunks, finished much better than we saw in the spring at the rim in traffic, and was a monster on the glass snatching boards among opponents. Mixed in a baseline jumper on occasion, but didn’t let that be the main focus of his game. Solid shot blocking presence.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049061" first="Denium" last="Juette"] (Fenwick)

Juette is a long and rangy combo guard that can play both on and off the ball. Makes things happen on the defensive end getting steals and is a nifty passer. Excels in the open floor playing off his defense. Small colleges would be wise to jump in here.

[player_tooltip player_id="996065" first="David" last="Gieser"] (Fenwick)

Plus shooter from the perimeter that is a major spot up threat. Small colleges that want a sniper this is your guy! Good size for that level and has some game beyond what he shows with Fenwick.

[player_tooltip player_id="863601" first="Gabe" last="Madej"] (Fenwick)

Combo forward here that brings toughness and grit to the table. Scrappy on the glass and always seems to have a nose for the basketball. He is also a plus shooter that is at his best spotting up in the corners or wings for looks.

[player_tooltip player_id="771543" first="Timaris" last="Brown"] (St. Patrick)

Brown is a unique prospect because of his size and frame. A lot of coaches over the weekend were thinking he is more of a four than a perimeter guy. Thick forward that plays best when utilizing his physicality on quick drives. Streaky three point shot was shown over the weekend as it was up and down. Like what he brings to the table as a versatile defender and positional rebounder. D2+ schools along with low-majors are wise to take a look here.

[player_tooltip player_id="925194" first="Nick" last="Hesch"] (York)

Hesch is a face up four that has always peaked our interest. Fits where the new age game is going with skilled fours that can play out on the perimeter. Decent athlete that stretches the floor should find a home at the small college level as an impactful four year player.

Davontae Hall (Hyde Park)

Hall is an explosive point guard that plays with tremendous burst in the open floor. He gets to the rim in transition. Right now he is still learning how to run a team, but the athleticism along with scoring pop are what make him intriguing at the D2 level and as a developmental JUCO prospect who could elevate his stock there.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048725" first="Malik" last="Jenkins"] (Hyde Park)

Jenkins started off slow in the game we saw, but as always he brings it at some point. Strong bodied small forward that finishes through contact in the paint with regularity and is a streaky spot up shooter. Like him at the JUCO level as a small ball four where you can use him as a major mismatch weapon.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048712" first="Tavari" last="Johnson"] (Lyons)

Johnson is the #3 point guard in the 2022 class and he was the best player on the floor when we went against another highly ranked guard. Slick ball handler that gets anywhere he wants on the floor. Turns the corner with speed off a ball screen like nobody in his class can. Despite his lack of size and strength he converts in the lane with regularity on acrobatic layups and runners. Also is a sound three point shooter. Excellent decision maker as a passer. Mid-majors are crazy if they do not jump in!

[player_tooltip player_id="1055140" first="Billy" last="Bach"] (Lyons)

Bach had a breakout spring and that continued with an excellent showing at RB. Plus shooter with size that can play multiple positions at the D3 level. He is going to be an impact player for a team.

[player_tooltip player_id="863590" first="Sulaimon" last="Agiste"] (Michelle Clark)

Agiste is the highest upside prospect for Michelle Clark. He is a long and rangy shot blocker that is at his best when he is coming from the weakside, but can also swat them straight up. Showed some improvement offensively with a few quick and fluid post moves. Strength will be a major issue as he hasn’t added much strength since the first time we saw him. High-academic prospect with developmental potential.

[player_tooltip player_id="863603" first="Mikqwon" last="Jones"] (Michelle Clark)

Thick bodied forward that uses his power and quickness in the paint to score through contact. Plays with a high motor. Like him at the small college or JUCO level.

Darruse Perryman (Michelle Clark)

Perryman lit up the nets from three in the game we saw. The small lefty point guard connected on the game winner as one of his four triples in the contest that we saw him play.

[player_tooltip player_id="1210374" first="Ty" last="Rogers"] (West Aurora)

Like the ceiling quite a bit here. Long and athletic 6’7” combo forward that can play inside and out. He was absolutely money all weekend with his feathery three point shot and was automatic from mid-range on pull ups. Can score in the post when needed and has a lot of tools that project well defensively. D2s and potentially low-majors need to keep him on their radars.

Sam Gibson (Lake Forest)

Gibson played Robin to Thomas’ Batman over the weekend. The 6’2” senior guard has a nice combination of strength and skill at his size. Crafty finisher in the paint that had a knack for scoring in the lane. Good small college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049092" first="Toby" last="Onyekonwu"] (Plainfield East)

This is a prospect that is going to make a major leap into the post summer rankings update. The rangy combo guard was on fire from distance in the game we caught draining an array of threes both pulling up and off the catch. He also won off the bounce and has a decent passing feel. D2 programs should check out one of the top scorers from the event.
