Austin Parks Austin Parks 6'9" | C St. Mary's Memorial | 2023 State #166 Nation OH , 6’9 St Mary’s Memorial 2023 Ohio Buckets-Turf: Parks had his huge blow up this spring, proving to the region what most of the people around Ohio already knew. Parks is a very productive big guy who can score from the block at will. Parks is a mobile big guy, who is capable of moving his feet defensively in pick and roll and switch situations. Parks has stepped up against some of the other top bigs in the midwest and proven he can compete with anybody. He’s been a secret outside of Ohio, but after picking up an Ohio State offer, maybe he starts to gain more national attention.
Cole Rhett Cole Rhett 6'7" | C Bishop Watterson | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C Bishop Watterson 2023 Nova-Taylor: Rhett had a huge end to his Sophomore season, leading a shocking run by Bishop Watterson to the elite eight. Rhett is a force in the paint, with few defenders having the size and strength to stop him from going over his right shoulder with a lefty shot. Rhett is a very advanced passer for a big guy, finding open shooters when double teamed. Watterson has a deep 2023 class and could have another deep run or two left in Rhett’s career.
Jabari Conway Jabari Conway 6'8" | C Bowling Green | 2023 State OH , 6’8 C Toledo St John’s 2023 Hopson Elite-Awls: Conway is the lone player on this list playing up on 17U this spring for grassroots basketball. I’m thinking that decision might pay off next summer when Conway is playing against players his own age again. Conway is very mobile for his height and shows the physical tools to be a solid rim protector. I only got a one game sample size of him this spring, but am very intrigued. Hoping to catch him again either this summer or during the HS season.
Mike Steel Mike Steel 6'8" | C Hudson | 2023 State OH , 6’7 C Hudson 2023 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16U: Steel was a huge stock riser this summer after not having much of an impact for Hudson on the varsity level as a Sophomore. Steel is very skilled and can finish with either hand around the basket. Steel also flashed the ability to space the floor and knock down the outside shot. It’ll be interesting to see if he can use this momentum he’s gained this spring and bring it to the live periods in July.
