Across all three divisions, 17U, 16U, and 15U, a group of highly skilled guards showcased their skillset of being leaders and facilitators to help their respective teams succeed against tough competition throughout the weekend. This article highlights five guards who impressed with their ability to run an offense and set the tone as the lead point guard for their team.
Top Floor Generals
PJ Harris | 6’2″ CG | Midwest Tarheels Elite 2022 (2021)
- A gritty two-way point guard who brought physicality to the court, Harris took control of the offense for the Midwest Tarheels and had four assists and several outlet passes to create easy fastbreak layups. Harris was looking to push the pace consistently and it translated into some easy buckets for himself and his teammates. In the game against Louisiana Fire 2022, Harris finished with the stat line of 17 points, 4 assists, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Garrison Griffin | 6’4″ PG | Houston TTG 2022 (2022)
- Griffin has great size and length for the point guard position and did a superb job of running the offense and creating shots for teammates. In addition to his 8 points against Come 2 Compete, Griffin dished out 4 assists with accurate on and on-time passes. Displayed great court vision and had several creative passes due to his awareness and anticipation of where teammates were going to be.
David Hageman David Hageman 6'3" | PG Windsor | 2023 State CO | 6’2″ CG | ATR Elite-Colorado 2023 (2023)
- Hageman is as solid of a combo guard as they come, he knows when to push the pace or when to set up the halfcourt offense and did a really good job running the point efficiently. Has a solid frame for the point guard position, and was really comfortable passing the ball on the move, particularly in drive-and-kick spots. Hageman plays with a high basketball IQ on offense and his 4 assists against 3P Elite 2023 showed his ability to set up teammates for open shots.
Trent Medearis | 6’0″ PG | CTX Knights Basketball 2024 (2024)
- Medearis did a fantastic job running the point for CTX Knights, playing with really good pace and consistently making the right reads in the pick-and-roll game. Medearis showed advanced court vision and facilitating skills in the two matchups I watched, delivering 5 assists and 7 assists in the games. In addition to his passing chops, Medearis successfully found himself in the lane and around the basket finishing with soft-touch layups or floaters in the paint.
Roy Marom Roy Marom 5'9" | PG Frisco Centennial | 2024 State TX | 5’8″ PG | Team United Texas 2024 Yellow (2024)
- Marom had some of the filthiest handles and passes that I saw on the weekend, where he consistently created space for himself with hesitation moves and incredibly quick ball-handling. Always kept his eyes up for open teammates, both in the halfcourt and while pushing the pace on fast-break opportunities, and displayed some crisp and soft-touch dimes into the post. Marom was a leader on the court for United Texas 2024 Yellow and did a good job making sure the offense ran smoothly in the halfcourt.
