Twins are often referred to as double trouble and for Tigard opponents, [player_tooltip player_id="861095" first="Kalim" last="Brown"] and [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] were certainly a handful last season. The 6-foot guards made an impact their freshman year and are aiming for big things now as sophomores in 2021. Both played together with A-Train Oregon Magic in club ball before high school season started and it helped them get in shape to return to the Tigers.

"It was really good competition it was nice getting back into the flow, playing kids that are at a high level and not guys that we can beat every single time," [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] said. "It was really fun getting back into the flow."

With A-Train Oregon Magic, the twins played up at the 17U level - something they felt was very beneficial to their development. "They’re all bigger so it’s better competition," [player_tooltip player_id="861095" first="Kalim" last="Brown"] said. "You’ve just got to play with confidence."

Both brothers bring certain skillsets to the table and they compliment each other well. [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] started at the point and does more creating off of the dribble whereas [player_tooltip player_id="861095" first="Kalim" last="Brown"] is more of a spot-up shooter guy. With those things in mind, both discussed what they focused on with their games this off-season.

"Shooting for sure," [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] said. "Finishing is what I was good at last year so I’m trying to acquire a jumpshot right now, so I’m not just a playmaking finisher. Shooting will up my game a lot."

"Getting to the basket more," [player_tooltip player_id="861095" first="Kalim" last="Brown"] said. "I’m already a pretty good shooter so I just need to get to the basket more."

Both brothers are looking forward to catching the eyes of college coaches both this season and into club ball. The sons of former Beavers guard Markee Brown, it should come as no surprise that Oregon State is aware of the twins and has been in contact. The boys - who would like to consider themselves a package deal - note that the Beavers are one of their top schools but in general they are keeping things side open.

"We’re looking D-I, on the West Coast, maybe away from home to feel something different as that would be something good for both of us," [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] said.

Both are well aware that D-I college coaches can start watching again live and in person the start of June and they are ready. While Tigard did drop their first game of the season, the boys believe they have a squad that can do some special things.

"I think we’re going to be a really good team," [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] said. "We lost [player_tooltip player_id="606254" first="Drew" last="Carter"] but we have a lot of the main players that we had last year. We might be small but we’re still athletic and we can shoot and play defense. We should be one of the top teams in our league."

Malik and Kalim currently rank as the #6 and #10 players respectively in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2023 rankings.
