Saturday was another great day of action at the Prep Hoops Cream City Collision in Milwaukee. We dive into the Illinois prospects and teams we caught in Cream City Collision: Scotty B’s Saturday Notebook!

Big 3 15U Prospects to Watch

We opened the day with Big 3 Basketball checking out their 15U squad. Couple of names on their front line showed potential. Schaumburg 6’6” long and thin forward Clark Easley that impacts the game most on the defensive end with his shot blocking. Conant 6’4” four man Camden Lathos is a broad shouldered post that has touch around the hoop and good footwork. In the backcourt Farragut 6’0” guard Jonathan Calmese is a slippery scoring guard with length and passing feel. Yusuf Cisse is another lead guard who hails from Conant. Scoring lead guard with quick takes off the bounce for buckets.

Wings in Abundance for Swish Basketball Chicago 15U

Tons of wings for a talented Swish team. The highest ceiling prospect is Glenbard North’s 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1157222" first="JJ" last="Hernandez"]. The 6’6” wing is coming off an injury and was a bit rusty with the jumper and free throws, but the physical tools are tantalizing. Smooth ball handler that got to the rim for several and-1s. Good rebounder in traffic. Potential as a defender. Richard Lindsey from Simeon is a two guard that has scoring pop especially with his jump shot pulling up from mid-range and three. De La Salle 6’2” 2024 two guard Tim Handy burst on the scene with a strong performance. Really liked what he brought defensively swatting perimeter shots and using his active hands to get steals Offensively he is best getting downhill for tough buckets at the cup.

Shooters Shoot Lights Out for Illinois Stars

The Illinois Stars 17U perimeter trio knocked down shots at a super high rate on Saturday afternoon. Chicago U-High 2022 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1210389" first="Zach" last="Smith"] drained shots at an insane clip from distance. The 6’3” guard was a consistent threat pulling up and off the catch. Unsigned senior 2021 Home School wing Mike Erbeck has made noise over the last couple of months with his sharp shooting and that continued Saturday. Would be a nice late addition at the small college level with his deep range and creative handles for nifty finishes.. Aurora Christian 2022 two guard [player_tooltip player_id="996079" first="Drew" last="Meyers"] is another plus shooter at 6’1” who knocked in an array from distance for the Illinois Stars. Plays with grit and knocks in mid-range jumpers as well. These three were dominant in their two wins we saw.

Full Package 17U Trio to Track

There were a trio of prospects on Full Package that are worth monitoring for colleges at the small college level. [player_tooltip player_id="1105737" first="Nick" last="Pierre"] is a thick bodied 6’3” combo guard that is an unsigned senior from Round Lake. Good getting in the lane for tough finishes and runners. Glenbrook South 2021 6’0” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="1176920" first="Bo" last="Hubbard"] is a plus shooter from the perimeter that could be a specialist at a small school. New Trier 2022 6’4” small forward [player_tooltip player_id="1169886" first="Noah" last="Shannon"] has some skill and projectability. Clean looking shooting stroke.

Mt. Carmel Guard 2023 One to Watch in June

South Cook Jaguars struggled against the Illinois Stars, but we continue to like how Mt. Carmel 2023 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="989268" first="DeAndre" last="Craig"] has played against older competition on the 17U level. Tough guard that loves to attack downhill with his quickness on straight line takes. Can hit an open shot and is a good rebounder for his size.

Illini Magic Athletic Forward Duo

The Illini Magic duo of [player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1210373" first="Joseph" last="Fitch"] continue to grab attention this spring. Slater is an unsigned 2021 Springfield High School point forward with explosive athleticism and electric passing. His JUCO recruitment is starting to heat up. Fitch has broke out as a Home School 2022 prospect at 6’8” with bounce around the hoop along with mobility on both ends. Stock is going up, up, up!

Pair of Combo Forwards Shine in B&B Elite vs Gallo Sports 17U Matchup

In this 17U contest it was two combo forwards that showed potential as 2022 prospects. For B&B Elite it was Warren 6’5” small forward [player_tooltip player_id="1207938" first="Cooper" last="Stacey"] who has a thin, but projectable frame. Clean and free flowing release on his shot being able to stretch it to beyond the arc off the catch with ease. Gallo Sports from Wisconsin has a powerful four man in 6’4” Darrien Long. The well built Racine Horlick (WI) forward is explosive at the rim finishing in the pick/roll, runs the floor, and protected the hoop on the other end.

Team Team Jabari Compete Without Big Men

This weekend Team Ten Jabari was without their two standout post players so they went with an all guard lineup. Despite a couple of losses, they competed against several top teams in pool A. DePaul Prep standout [player_tooltip player_id="1157225" first="Payton" last="Kamin"] had his moments off the bounce and pulling up from distance. Whitney Young’s [player_tooltip player_id="1157220" first="Sean" last="Brown-Coley"] stepped up playing a super undersized post role getting on the glass. Jarvis McNeal (Bogan) and Kevin Iverson (Whitney Young) each showed flashes on the perimeter.

Illinois Future Features Dynamic Backcourt

Enjoyed watching the Illinois Future 17U squad on Saturday night. It started with the play of Lincoln Park 6’1” shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id="1210388" first="Chikere" last="Nwosu"]. He put on a show shooting it from deep draining pull ups over contested defenders one after another. Good athlete that can defend as well. At the point Evanston 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="925208" first="Rashawn" last="Bost"] displayed athleticism, slick ball handling, and speed in the open floor. Another Evanston product in [player_tooltip player_id="1049087" first="Jamon" last="Brooks"] is a strong rising senior wing that makes his living in the lane with floaters and strong takes. Crashes the offensive glass and had a hook shot on a post up.
