Battle at the Lakes: The 17U All Tournament Team
In this article:
The Battle at the Lakes was once again a loaded tournament of talent. Best of the best? We honor them with the Battle at the Lakes All Tournament team.
Amar Augillard Amar Augillard 6'5" | SF Zion Benton | 2021 State IL of Young N Reckless Brim (6’6 2021 Wing, Zion Benton, IL). Amar has been on a detailed, ultra focused mission ever since the winter calendar turned to spring. He was named a 4A All State player and then followed that up with a physically dominant April. Amar is the type of player that is using his maturity to score in crafty wise or with physically overwhelming plays. Led his team to a 4-0 weekend against the best competition at the event and now it’s time for those lows and mids to give this qualifier a call, or ten.
Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK of the Tulsa Hawks (6’4 2022 SG, Bixby, OK). The highlight reel game was the 35 point showing in an overtime win over Minnesota Select, a game in which Parker hit five threes. More impressive may have been the strong scoring numbers against Breakaway despite a full court face-guarding effort. In all, the all event Prep Hoops Circuit mainstay Parker Friedrichsen Parker Friedrichsen 6'4" | SG Bixby | 2023 State #165 Nation OK averaged 21 a game playing with a team that was mostly players from the other Tulsa Hawks 17u squad. And schools are taking notice as the Prep Hoops Prospect hotline was full of D1s wondering about Parker.
Jackson Loge Jackson Loge 6'7" | C Morris Area | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (6’8 2022 Big, Morris Area, MN). One of the hottest prospect names in Minnesota right now is Jackson Loge Jackson Loge 6'7" | C Morris Area | 2022 State MN . And Loge had the type of weekend that earned him a scholarship offer from Toledo after the event. Loge had four scores, nine boards, and three blocks in a grinding win over D1 Minnesota Prospects, he had 19 points in the win over the Tulsa Hawks, and had a double-double in another of the Fury wins. Loge is as skilled with the pivot as any prospect you will see, can use the right or left to finish, turns over either shoulder, and passes so well from the post. Was the key ingredient in a total team effort to go 3-1.
Justin Mullins Justin Mullins 6'4" | SF Oak Park-River Forest | 2022 State IL of Young N Reckless Power Five (6’4 2022 SG, Oak Park, IL). The other top division undefeated team at the Battle at the Lakes? The other Young N Reckless team. Mullins likely had the performance of the weekend when he turned seven dunks and several jumpers on the move into a 41 point, 10 rebound double-double against the Tulsa Hawks. Mullins also had a couple threes and a couple scores inside when YnR beat a really good Minnesota Fury team and a 20 point, six rebound game against the D1 Minnesota Prospects (another top five level Minnesota 17u squad).
BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN of D1 Minnesota (6’7 2022 Wing, Mankato East, MN). D1 Minnesota won three of four games and the most consistent player for the Adidas squad was Mankato East 6-foot-7 wing BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN . Omot, who was offered by Providence earlier in the week, is one of the more skilled 6-foot-7 players you will see. In addition the consistency from Omot as well as the efficiency of his decision making has high major programs doing a serious double take or detailed initial look. Omot had 18 points and five boards scoring on 8 of 9 shots in the win over Wisconsin Playground.
Jah Quinones of Judah Nation (6’4 2022 Guard, Lake Highland Prep, FL). When it comes to strong headed and physically powerful lead guards, Jah is the cover boy. The flurry of Minnesota Select guards couldn’t rattle the tight end of a lead guard as he scored 15 and controlled pace. In a blowout of Wisconsin Playground, Quinones scored his 14 and made sure everybody around him was scoring in comfort. Young N Reckless threw everything at Jah and the pressure was handled without a blink. Ja scored on balance near the cup and put the ball in the right spots to run offense. Strength, leadership, and poise.
