Teams and their fans came out in droves all the way from North Florida, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, San Antonio, Houston, and many more, ready to battle it out. This event was an action-packed thriller filled with buzzer-beaters, slam dunks, ankle breakers, you name it. Here we’ll take a look at a few of the best jump shooters from Prep Hoops Tune Up.
Ethan To – Shooting Guard – Texas Takeover-Hoarch
Ethan proved to be a knockdown catch and shoot player, who let it fly from college range with no conscience. Cool, calm, and collected under pressure, this kid hit some big shots, his outstanding sharpshooting kept the score tight in their final game of day 3. A reliable shot maker with great form and positioning when shooting, effortless release with a consistent follow-through. Ethan To showed true potential to become a legit shooting specialist over the next couple of years, good upside.
Luke Cheatham – Shooting Guard – BBSS National 2023
Pure 3-point specialist with a true shooter’s touch from anywhere on the floor. Luke Cheatham displayed very smooth and polished shooting mechanics, textbook shooting form, excellent balance, and rotation on the ball, deep shooting range, dangerous coming off of screens, gets his feet set quickly, releases the ball in a hurry, and was never phased when shooting with a hand in his face, you name it Luke had it down packed.
Germarion Hollins – Shooting Guard – Showtime Elite LA 2023
Germarion Hollins proved to be a true mid-range assassin, extremely deadly around the elbows, very easy and quick catch and shoot shot for him to get off. Hollins showed off some nice footwork, when receiving the ball in the high post, using head fakes, pivots, stepbacks, and fadeaways to create the space and separation needed to get his shot off and over taller defenders. He also gets a great lift off the ground and has a high release point that assisted him tremendously when taking these shots. Not only was Germarion Hollins at his best in the mid-range area but he also showed flashes of potential to operate from all three levels effectively.
Grant Rein Grant Rein 6'0" | SG Grapevine Faith Christian | 2023 State TX – Shooting Guard – Texas Impact 4:13 AE
Texas-ranked prospect, Grant Rein Grant Rein 6'0" | SG Grapevine Faith Christian | 2023 State TX , showed up to the circuit and did what he does best. He scorched the nets from beyond the arc, Rein nailed 5 three-pointers and dropped 19 points to go along with it. Some teams didn’t seem to get the memo until it was too late, but you must account for Grant Rein Grant Rein 6'0" | SG Grapevine Faith Christian | 2023 State TX at all times. His stroke was simply a thing of beauty, such a pure and lethal shooter with a quick release that most defenders couldn’t contest effectively.
Corleone Dandridge Corleone Dandridge 6'4" | SF Berkner | 2023 WI – Shooting Guard/Small Forward – Better Off Living Dreams (B.O.L.D.) 2023
6-foot-4-inch, Corleone is a true ballplayer with natural shooting abilities and a good feel for the court. This sharpshooter was the go-to guy when his team needed a three-pointer most and he often came up successful, even nailing a quick catch and shoot deep corner three to tie the game up with 8 seconds remaining, proving to be a clutch shooter over and over again. His length combined with his release point made his jump shot difficult to block and contest. The ball also came out of his hands very quickly and effortlessly, all in one single motion.
