The new 2023 rankings are out.

This season ended up being a short AIA season, a full Grind Session season, a condensed CAA season and a longer AAU season with showcase formats.

This 2023 class may be back to normal like the good old days. (We hope!)

We look at the Top-10 CG’s in the 2023 class:

A strong group, especially at the top, with five in the Top-22 and eight in the Top-50. A good mixture of pure shooters, athletes and scorers.

1. [player_tooltip player_id="831119" first="Jason" last="Fontenet Jr"] St. Mary’s

-Not many are playing better right now then Fontenet Jr. He is strong, skilled and tough. His pull-up off the dribble is difficult to defend and uses his frame to seemingly bounce off of defenders. He had 17 points with two assists en route to winning the BattleZone Chip for 16U in Corona/CA.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="996161" first="Lashy" last="Perez"] Apollo (Pictured)

-A tough downhill guard who can shoot and make plays. He has good size and length and comes with a real burst into the lane. He attacks just about as good as anyone on the list then can step back and launch from well beyond the arc.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="831122" first="Vincent" last="Delano"] Bella Vista Prep

-A sharp shooter who has been recently on fire. He gets high elevation off his pull-up from mid-range and his catch-3 looks picture perfect. Two weekends ago in Gerry Frietas event, he avg around four 3's made per game. He also has seen his athleticism kick in with some above the rim dunks on the break.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="814516" first="Bryce" last="Ford"] Pinnacle

-Another gunslinger is having a good early club season. He has one of the quickest releases in the class and has one of the 3pt shots that look good every attempt. He makes good decisions with the ball and plays the right way.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="814508" first="Andrew" last="Camacho"] Peoria

-Another sharp shooter with volleyball line range. He is still one of the best in the state at taking charges using his high IQ and toughness. He is crafty around the hoop and makes shots. He is best off the catch and is starting show some PG skills.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="814521" first="Aadem" last="Isai"] Valley Vista

-Already one of the team leaders in the West Side. He handles it like a PG and can shoot it with range just as well as anyone on the list. His ability to change speeds and use his left or right hand making passes makes him intriguing.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="1029809" first="Tarik" last="Spencer"] Valley Vista

-The top athlete on the list is a fun show. He plays fast and faster flying up the court with the ball in his hands. He is a very good passer and on-ball defender using his athletic gifts. He loves touching the paint to score and is a capable perimeter shooter.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="814519" first="Matthew" last="Henry-Harrison"] Paradise Honors

-A confident scorer can get it done from all levels. He can get hot from the 3pt line plus loves getting to the FT line. He gets into smaller spaces with his handle and will score it through contact. He plays on or off the ball.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="1033063" first="Jay-Juan" last="Gould"] Willow Canyon

-If Spencer isn't the top athlete on the list, then it would be Gould. This kid flies on the break with incredible speed and energy. Defensively he has quick hands and feet and makes it very difficult to score on him. He can make perimeter jumpers plus get into the lane and use a floater or lay it in.

10. [player_tooltip player_id="1136424" first="Jacoby" last="Brown"] McClintock

-A long combo guard can shoot it with range. He has a nice crossover with his shifty handle and is a natural scorer. He is a sneaky good passer and can be a play-maker.

3 Others:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="814534" first="Adajeion" last="Williams"] Carl Hayden

-A bucket from all levels. The lefty has video game range with a fast trigger. Although undersized, he has good strength and toughness. He can make some nice passes to teammates as well.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="993647" first="AJ" last="Turner"] San Tan Charter

-A fast and athletic guard can play on or off the ball. He can score it from all levels and make plays. He missed the year to train and transferred over to possibly San Tan for now. He could be a big breakout player for them. Wherever he ends up, he will be an impactful player.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="814515" first="Connor" last="Fitzgerald"] Brophy Prep

-A lefty sniper has a smooth shooting stroke. He is one of the better shooters on the list. He moves well off the ball and relocates to open spots. He is crafty inside to score it and has a high IQ for the game.
