One post of stock-risers was not enough as players showed their ability to impact the game at both ends. Here are more stock-risers from the PPA Elite and Hilltopper Basketball Club Media Day.
Nyreek Clyburn Nyreek Clyburn 6'5" | PF Paterson Eastside | 2024 State NJ , 6’5 SF/PF Paterson Eastside 2024
Clyburn’s collegiate future will probably be on the gridiron, but he showed he can also bring it on the hardwood. The 6’5 dual-sport athlete is at his best attacking the basket as he uses his strong frame to draw contact. Clyburn is a good finisher around the basket and has a nice release on his free throws. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Clyburn’s athleticism makes him an intriguing prospect to watch for PPA Elite.
Delroy Smith Delroy Smith 6'7" | PF Hillside | 2023 State NJ , 6’7 PF Elizabeth 2023
Smith had a good showing as he showed his all-around offensive skillset. The 6’7 forward works hard down low as he puts himself in good position to get rebounds on both ends. Smith showed his range as he knocked down a triple from the corner and has a nice release. He uses his length to alter shots and can finish around the basket. Smith is a talented power forward who should only get better throughout his varsity career.
Anthony Lanza Anthony Lanza 5'10" | PG Elizabeth | 2024 NJ , 5’11 PG Elizabeth 2024
Lanza made his impact on both ends of the floor as he flew around the court on defense. The 5’11 guard moves his feet extremely well and is a pesky, on-ball defender. Lanza has a good handle and plays with his head up in the half court. He is unafraid to rise up for jumpers on the perimeter and does not mind drawing contact. Lanza is a tough, lead guard who should have a big spring AAU season.
Jalen James Jalen James 5'11" | PG Columbia | 2024 State NJ , 5’11 PG Columbia 2024
James was a blur with the ball in his hands as he is lightning quick with the ball in his hands. The 5’11 guard has a tight handle and is not fazed by on-ball pressure. James uses his handle to get into the lane where he can score in a variety of ways. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and has quick hands. James is a two-way guard who is ready to run the PPA Elite offense this spring.
Rich Louis Rich Louis 6'4" | SG Union | 2024 NJ , 6’4 SG/SF Union 2024
Louis had a good all-around showing as he showed off his versatile skillset. The 6’4 wing has a nice handle as he knows how to get to the basket from the perimeter. Louis can also shoot the ball from deep and uses his size to elevate over smaller defenders. He is a good rebounder and has the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor. Louis’ ability to score in the half court will be a key piece to PPA Elite’s offense this spring season.
