It was a pretty tight game throughout the first half until Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH started to take the game over in the third quarter. He finished with a game-high 36 points and the Arcs were able to defeat the Rebels 85-46 to capture the team’s fifth consecutive WRC title.
To close out the week, Shaker Heights hosted Bedford on Feb. 19. The Bearcats had four players score in double figures, with senior forward Chaze Harris Chaze Harris 6'4" | SG Bedford | 2021 State OH leading the way with a team-high 18 points. They led from the opening possession in a game missing junior point guard Daniel Young. Here are some of the top performers from these two games.
Top Performers
Chaze Harris Chaze Harris 6'4" | SG Bedford | 2021 State OH | 6-5 Senior | Bedford
Dunks, transition points, diving for loose balls, whatever you can think of, Chaze Harris Chaze Harris 6'4" | SG Bedford | 2021 State OH seemed to do for his team against Shaker Heights. He’s very athletic and long, making him a dangerous player in the open court. Harris likes to push the ball down the court and use his speed to his advantage when he’s given an isolation situation outside the arc. Most of his scoring is done inside the key but he’s not limited to that by any means. The senior finished with 18 points and has become one of Northeast Ohio’s top seniors heading into the playoffs.
Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH | 6-4 Junior | Brush
As the basketball season continues to wind down, it seems like there is no stopping Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH from leaving a lasting impression not only throughout Northeast Ohio but in the state altogether. He’s averaging just under 30 points per game for the Arcs this season and really has developed into a more consistent player on both sides of the ball. Known more for his defense the previous two years, James has established himself as a Mr. Basketball candidate for the state of Ohio and his recruiting has been on the rise ever since starting his junior year. He finished with 36 points during the win against South.
Tyree Alexander | 6-4 Senior | Willoughby South
Have I mentioned a player who shoots the ball with a ton of confidence yet? Tyree Alexander is not your typical guard. He’s a player who’s got a sneaky handle that can create space to test his 3-point shot. Quite often, he found himself firing away from well behind the arc. He’s the go-to scorer within the Willoughby South offense that lacks players taking over the control of the game on any given possession.
Antwone Woolfolk Antwone Woolfolk 6'8" | C Brush | 2022 State OH | 6-7 Junior | Brush
Injuries have plagued Brush throughout the course of the season this year. It’s made dome players step into bigger roles within the offense and one of those players is big man Antwone Woolfolk Antwone Woolfolk 6'8" | C Brush | 2022 State OH . He scored 15 points during the win against South and has developed into a solid prospect as a junior. His footwork on the block is something that allows him to get to the rim often.
Raymell Hester | 6-0 Junior | Bedford
After watching Bedford player earlier in the year, one player that looked significantly better the second time around was Raymell Hester. He was a spark for the Bearcats that looked around for some scoring along with Harris. No player appeared to be as aggressive as he was going after loose balls. Hester had three steals in the first half alone and did most of his damage on defense. The junior did finish with double-digit points and can impact the game in a myriad of ways on either side of the ball. He was fun to watch within half-court.
Jaylon Clark | 6-1 Junior | Bedford
Someone who wasted no time making an impact on the court was Jaylon Clarke. The point guard had eight points in the first quarter, doing a little bit of everything alongside Harris to get the Bearcats up early against the Raiders. He was very assertive with the ball in his hands and always found himself moving without the ball, keeping his defender on notice. Clark ended the night with 17 points, scoring in a multitude of ways inside the key as well. His confidence level has ascended from the last time I had a chance to watch him play.
