SPRINGFIELD, VA -- The St. James Winter League resumed on Tuesday. Here are six takeaways from the action.

DC Lions and Arlington Blue are loaded with prospects

The first game of the evening featured the DC Lions vs. Arlington Blue. Led by the dynamic unsigned senior twins, [player_tooltip player_id="902049" first="Kent" last="King"] and [player_tooltip player_id="902033" first="Kris" last="King"], the Lions fought back from an early deficit to pull off an impressive win. 2022 guards [player_tooltip player_id="904663" first="Rob" last="Lawson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="904652" first="Cam’ron" last="Brown"] were very good at the point of attack defensively. 2022 wings [player_tooltip player_id="815607" first="Cavan" last="Reilly"] and [player_tooltip player_id="962786" first="Christian" last="May"] were outstanding for Arlington Blue. Reilly shot 4 of 7 from deep. May scored 10 efficient points from all three levels before fouling out, but he was a difference-maker defensively and was missed down the stretch. 2023 point guard Brendan Robinson boosted his stock with a rock-solid two-way performance off the bench.

[player_tooltip player_id="902029" first="Chace" last="Davis"] impresses during workmanlike double shift

Unsigned senior [player_tooltip player_id="902029" first="Chace" last="Davis"] contributed to two wins on Tuesday. First, he led the Postoak Lions to a comprehensive victory over Koa Prep. Then he ran with his amigo [player_tooltip player_id="697101" first="Darius" last="Johnson"] and helped his team knock off Friends. Davis was excellent in transition. He scored in double figures while contributing defensively, on the boards, and also shared the ball with his teammates.

Princeton-bound Johnson shines

It took [player_tooltip player_id="798696" first="Garrett" last="Johnson"] a little while to get going, but once he had the hot hand he was impossible to stop. The versatile 6-foot-7 wing has added some strength since we’ve last seen him. He’s finishing more consistently around the basket. Johnson hit 3 of 4 treys and went 4 of 4 from the charity stripe. He recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist in his team’s win over Friends.

Gamble breaks out

This was probably the best all-around game [player_tooltip player_id="837925" first="Chris" last="Gamble"] has played with Prep Hoops in the gym. The explosive guard dunked the ball off two feet, perhaps for the first time in a game. Gamble took the challenge against a tough matchup and played tremendous defense. He also brought it offensively, scoring 17 hard-fought points.

2024 class looks promising

Multiple 2024 prospects stood out on Tuesday. [player_tooltip player_id="1127316" first="Israel" last="Bosenge"] had a nice cameo where he showcased his versatility on both ends of the court for the DC Lions. Del Jones asserted himself on both ends for Arlington Blue. [player_tooltip player_id="697107" first="Marcus" last="Banks"] had some very crafty finishes for DMV Sports Academy. And 6-foot-6 Drew McKenna (pictured above), is an interesting long-term prospect with some tools.

[player_tooltip player_id="904623" first="Trey" last="Thomas"] makes a statement

[player_tooltip player_id="904623" first="Trey" last="Thomas"] is establishing himself as one of the top natural playmakers in the region. His ball-handling is in point, his playmaking instincts are off the charts, and he plays both ends of the floor. Thomas also has the size and scoring prowess that only adds to his intrigue.
