<p>The NCHSAA season is underway as the playoffs quickly approach. Here's a look at some 2A standouts in the 2022 class.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="848089" first="Collin" last="Tanner"] | 6’6 Wing/Guard | South Granville</h5>
<p>Tanner is having himself a breakout season in the starting lineup for South Granville this season. He’s averaging 23.4 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.9 apg and 1.5 spg as they’re off to a 6-2 start to the season. He’s shooting 37 percent from behind the arc and 58 percent from the field as he shows his growth after serving the 6th Man role in 2019-20.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1032839" first="Kaleb" last="Hedgepeth"] | 6’6 Forward | South Granville</h5>
<p>Hedgepeth has been a force in the paint for South Granville this season. He’s averaging 9.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.4 apg and 2.3 bpg at the 4 spot for them as he shows his development as a rebounder and rim protector in 2020-21. He racked up 15 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocks against crosstown rival Granville Central already this season.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="577839" first="Derrick" last="Cox"] Jr. | 6’0 Guard | Farmville Central</h5>
<p>Cox has been a solid contributor on the wing this season for the Farmville Central Jaguars as they look to repeat as state champions. He’s clocked in 9.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.6 apg and 2.0 spg for them on the wing. He’s an underrated athlete that can get out on the break and create for himself and others. He recorded a double-double (13 pts and 10 rebs.) against Nash Central on Jan. 22.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1008409" first="Zay" last="Mayo"] | 6’1 Guard | Southwest Edgecombe</h5>
<p>Mayo is having himself a strong junior season for Southwest Edgecombe, picking up where he left off in 2019-20. He's put up 16.1 ppg, 4.7 apg, 3.3 rpg and 1.9 spg to balance out their backcourt attack in 2020-21. He's a quick guard that plays with a ton of energy, especially on the defensive end. He was a consistent force despite their result against Farmville Central, posting 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting along with five steals and four assists. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="945077" first="Terry" last="Moore"] | 6’1 Guard | Washington</h5>
<p>Moore has come on strong in the 2020-21 season in the Washington rotation as a breakout candidate with 18.3 ppg, 6.0 apg, 6.0 rpg, 2.8 spg and 1.8 bpg. He's a guard prospect that plays with a ton of energy and presence on both ends while making plays. He's recorded three 20-point games already this season while also managing average 4.3 apg during the same stretch. He's a prospect that's made a big leap on the hardwood.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="577870" first="Dontavious" last="Pettaway"] | 6’3 Forward | Greene Central</h5>
<p>Pettaway is a forward prospect that plays with a ton of energy on both ends at Greene Central and it's shown in his production. He's averaging 17.0 ppg, 13.3 pg, 3.5 apg, 2.5 spg and 1.3 bpg through their first four games with four double-doubles already. He can operate on the interior and on the wing as well, an aspect he's improved upon this season. He's shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from behind the arc.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="993656" first="Evan" last="Montanari"] | 6’2 Shooting Guard | East Lincoln</h5>
<p>Montanari is slowly emerging as one of the top sharpshooters to know in the 2022 class at East Lincoln. He's off to a hot start already for the 6-2 Mustangs, posting 17.0 ppg, 3.3 spg, 2.4 apg and 2.0 rpg entering his junior season. He's shooting with volume from behind the arc and has already made 15 3-pointers (2.1 per game) on the year. Look for his stock to grow as he improves upon his perimeter shooting.</p>
