With tournaments in Oregon currently at a standstill, HoopSource has made the move to hold their events in other states and this weekend their President’s Day Showcase will take place in Phoenix. A number of teams will make the trek to the Grand Canyon State including quite a few club squads from up and down the I-5 corridor in Oregon. Here’s a quick look at who will heading down for the action.

It’s been a little while since they last suited up, but Elite 24 will be taking three teams to compete at the 18U/17U level. The Volt team is the squad consisting of several top players from the Class of 2022, including star point guard [player_tooltip player_id="857343" first="Samaje" last="Morgan"] (2022 Churchill), smooth wing/forward [player_tooltip player_id="857348" first="Christian" last="Rowell"] (2022 Lake Oswego), and emerging forward [player_tooltip player_id="964551" first="Mack" last="Wall"] (2022 Jesuit). The Black and Grey squads have featured standouts such as [player_tooltip player_id="855946" first="Trent" last="Templeton"] (2021 David Douglas), [player_tooltip player_id="855969" first="Justin" last="Hamilton"] (2021 Crescent Valley), [player_tooltip player_id="855958" first="Brett" last="Moss"] (2021 Tigard), and [player_tooltip player_id="1079528" first="Peter" last="Burke"] (2022 Tualatin).

A-Train Oregon Magic has been hard at work and will bring their top squad. High-flying and powerful swingman [player_tooltip player_id="942247" first="Devon" last="Malcolm"] (2022 Butte Falls) leads the way with juniors [player_tooltip player_id="857352" first="Dezman" last="Baker"] (2022 Mountainside) and [player_tooltip player_id="964544" first="Bryce" last="Dyer"] (2022 North Medford) helping out up front. Twins [player_tooltip player_id="861097" first="Malik" last="Brown"] (2023 Tigard) and [player_tooltip player_id="861095" first="Kalim" last="Brown"] (2023 Tigard) should bring plenty of energy and playmaking in the backcourt while [player_tooltip player_id="855987" first="Hunter" last="Chubb"] (2021 Crater) will launch daggers from deep for program director Devin Price.

Deep III recently got started with their team and head coach P.J. Gilbert is excited about what’s ahead. [player_tooltip player_id="855937" first="Isaiah" last="Gilliam"] (2021 South Albany) recently returned home after a stint at prep school and he and under-the-radar senior [player_tooltip player_id="855940" first="Jude" last="Ashpole"] (2021 Gladstone) are hoping to turn some heads. As usual the team is strong in the backcourt as [player_tooltip player_id="964540" first="Landon" last="Thom"] (2022 Westside Christian), JahAllah Van (2023 De La Salle North), Tommy Tacha (2021 Gladstone), and Brandon Wanlass (2021 Gladstone) should all make major contributions.

Active PCH is another program that has been getting their feet wet in recent weeks and they will be bringing two teams to the event. Their top team will feature some familiar names with PIL fans with [player_tooltip player_id="857345" first="Donatello" last="Tupper"] (2022 Roosevelt), [player_tooltip player_id="746290" first="Brandon" last="Hopson"] (2021 Jefferson), and [player_tooltip player_id="964545" first="Henri" last="Perrin"] (2022 Lincoln) on the roster. All-Around Players will also be in the field, led by [player_tooltip player_id="964555" first="Jacob" last="Axmaker"] (2022 Stayton) and [player_tooltip player_id="1079535" first="Chaz" last="Storm"] (2022 Santiam).

In the 16U open division, Dynasty (Red-2023) will look to make noise led by top-five ranked sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="861096" first="Kavon" last="Bradford"] (2023 Benson) and [player_tooltip player_id="861078" first="Adrian" last="Mosley"] (2023 Grant). Elite 24 will have their younger squad there and the two other Oregon-based squads are the Bruins and Northwest Athletics.

In 15U, Oregon Prospects, Northwest Lightning, and Southern Oregon Rogues are the three in-state teams participating.

Games start on Saturday, February at several locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area with bracket championships held on Monday, President’s Day. Games will be streamed on BallerTV and you can find the full schedule here.
