The 2020-21 season is less than 2 weeks away and we continue looking ahead to the year with season previews. Here’s a look at some of the most talented rosters outside the city of Louisville. They are presented in alphabetical order.

Ashland Blazer: Coming off an undefeated 2019-2020 season, the Tomcats bring back almost their entire roster and added a post transfer in [player_tooltip player_id="977523" first="Sean" last="Marcum"]. [player_tooltip player_id="926907" first="Cole" last="Villers"], [player_tooltip player_id="932768" first="Colin" last="Porter"], [player_tooltip player_id="915161" first="Ethan" last="Hudson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="926924" first="Ethan" last="Sellars"] were all double figure scorers last season. Coach Mays has bulked up the schedule for 2021 and they appear ready to be state title contenders.

Bowling Green: Likely the best team (on paper) in all of western Kentucky, they have all kinds of depth. [player_tooltip player_id="801586" first="Turner" last="Buttry"] and [player_tooltip player_id="923004" first="Conner" last="Cooper"] hold down the backcourt while [player_tooltip player_id="793756" first="Isaiah" last="Mason"], [player_tooltip player_id="923009" first="Trace" last="Flanary"] and Jaxson Banks handle the wings. In the post, [player_tooltip player_id="793779" first="Jacobi" last="Huddleston"] is back and the coaching staff expects 5 star tight end Jordan Dingle to be back on the court after missing last season with an injury.

George Rogers Clark: Leading scorers [player_tooltip player_id="692930" first="Jerone" last="Morton"] and [player_tooltip player_id="923008" first="Jared" last="Wellman"] are back. Transfer Junior [player_tooltip player_id="926892" first="Aden" last="Slone"] should allow Morton to play off the ball more. Junior Trent Edwards has sprung up to 6’7 and can score the ball all over the court. Most of the rest of the Junior class made up a very successful JV team last season and should provide depth behind Morton, Wellman and Slone.

Lexington Catholic: Mr. Basketball favorite [player_tooltip player_id="604116" first="Ben" last="Johnson"] is the main name on the roster but don’t sleep on the depth the Knights have coming back. Junior [player_tooltip player_id="926891" first="Jack" last="Gohmann"] joins Johnson in the backcourt while Sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="1043605" first="Hudson" last="Sparks"] and Reece Potter are going to give Coach Salsman some size they have lacked in recent years. Ryan Russell can shoot the cover off the ball the 5 out offense they run is hard to guard.

Oldham County: Coach Z has probably the deepest team he’s ever had at Oldham. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="923036" first="Deaton" last="Oak"], [player_tooltip player_id="923005" first="Tyler" last="Slone"], [player_tooltip player_id="923032" first="Sam" last="Campbell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1065818" first="Xander" last="Wagner-Rose"] all come back as double digit scorers last season. Juniors [player_tooltip player_id="926931" first="Sam" last="Powell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="801610" first="Hayden" last="Burgess"] are going to provide serious front court depth. If they can develop some guard depth behind Oak and Campbell, these Colonels could make a run to a state title.
