Prep Hoops Illinois dives into what we saw from a variety of events during the fall months. We saw tons of basketball over the last few months and now we recap that. Check out our Fall 2022 New Names to Emerge!

[player_tooltip player_id="1049065" first="Patrick" last="Laurich"] (Downers Grove South)

Event: Breakaway Scrimmage

New name on our radar here in this 6’6” four man. Laurich crashed the boards on the defensive end and had a couple blocks. Ran the floor pretty well and stretched it hitting a three off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049092" first="Toby" last="Onyekonwu"] (Plainfield East)

Event: Stealth Final Runs 2022

This Plainfield East 5’10” point guard knocked in an array of mid-range shots along with stretching it out to three on one occasion. Pesky defender and makes quick passes. Nose for the basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049091" first="Ty" last="Butler"] (Downers Grove South)

Event: Stealth Final Runs 2022

Butler is a 6’0” point guard that plays with quickness. Couple jumpers along with drives to the hoop including an impressive jump stop finish.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048722" first="Garrett" last="Bolte"] (Hinsdale South)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 1

The star of the night was this Hinsdale South four man. The skilled post went to work all night long. He drilled a handful of threes off the catch as a spot up shooter. Finished dump off passes, ran the floor hard, and worked well converting in the pick/roll. Extremely efficient with his touches. Excellent post defense as he walled up and contested throughout the night.

Kyle Neibch (Batavia)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 1

One of the breakout players of the night was this 6’2” shooting guard. He was absolute money from three. We had him for seven from beyond the arc on the night including a pair of James Harden like side step threes. He did that to create on his own while also drilling them off the catch over and over again. Had a couple nice dishes to cutters and on dump off passes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049072" first="Aiden" last="Wieczorek"] (Huntley)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 1

Another new name that emerged here. This 6’1” shooting guard has a skilled game that allows him to be a shot maker and creator. He regularly was making plays in the lane on spin moves that resulted in mid-range jumpers. Also had a turnaround jumper and runner game as well. Crafty guard that is lethal in the 12-15 foot range.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049076" first="Keon" last="Richardson"] (Tinley Park)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 1

Richardson is a lead guard from Tinley Park that started off slow and then got it going as the night went along. Capable shooter from three knocking down an array of them over the course of the scrimmages. Also a pesky defender that put pressure on opposing guards.

Max Love (St. Charles North)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 2

Liked what Love brought to the table. Wing with decent size and a lanky frame. He split the defense on multiple occasions for layups. Slick euro step moves and finished above the rim. Stretches the floor with his three point shot. Length plays well defensively including blocking a shot on a recovery.

Jeremiah Betts-Moses (Woodstock)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 2

Betts-Moses is a two guard that has strength and length on the perimeter. He has a chance to be a lockdown defender. Excellent rebounder especially on the offensive end. Scored a couple times at the rim and showed flashes as a shooter although it was streaky.

Malachi Haythorne (Tinley Park)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 2

Haythorne is a quick and shifty lead guard that did a little bit of everything. Slick ball handler that slithers through the defense. Shifty in traffic breaking down the defense where he finished well around the hoop on acrobatic layups. Pushed it in transition for several buckets splitting the defense. Like what he showed as a passer as well with dump off passes and several bullet passes.

Daniel Hong (Barrington)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 2

Hong was one of the breakout players of the evening. The Barrington point guard is a creative playmaker that makes sound decisions with the ball. Always seemed to be around the action making a play. Solid shooter from three and pulling up from mid-range. Mixed in a few crafty layups as well.

Braeden Goebbert (Lockport)

Event: Stealth Runs Next Wave Session 2

Goebbert is a skilled face up four man with a thin frame. Hit a mid-range jumper along with a spot up three displaying solid mechanics on his shot. Got on the offensive glass for a pair of put backs and had a nice baseline drive. Rebounds pretty well in his area and should get better once he adds strength.

Nate Boldt (Barrington)

Event: Details Training

This 6’8” four man flashed in the brief time we got to see him. Intriguing prospect with his size and athleticism. Took it coast to coast once and another time was fouled in transition. Also drilled a three.

Asher Jackson (Carmel)

Event: Details Training

Jackson is a big left handed combo guard at 6’3”. You can play him on or off the ball depending on who else is on the floor with him. Drilled a pair of deep threes including a sick step back. The left hand dominant guard also took his man to the hoop on a strong straight line blow by move.

Jackson Antonow (Francis Parker)

Event: Details Training

This Francis Parker guard burst on our radar with a strong outing. The two guard is a crafty driver who had several nifty layups off the bounce. Quality runner game. Sound three point shooter that got on a roll from deep in one of the games. Solid defender.

Saxton Hoepker (Nashville)

Event: Illinois Bears Jamboree

This Nashville 6’6” four man brings solid size and scoring pop to the table. Got to the rim with some consistency on strong takes from the mid-post area. He was good on the offensive glass for put backs and even hit a three.

Isaac Turner (Nashville)

Event: Illinois Bears Jamboree

This wing has solid size at 6’2” for the off guard spot. Brings some projectability and isn’t afraid to take it to the rim. Used his athleticism to convert reverse layups and tough finishes. Mid-range game and is an active perimeter defender.

Elliot Lowndes (Cobden)

Event: Cape Girardeau Scrimmage

This was the biggest pleasant surprise of the event. The 6’9” five man is rail thin, but he competed throughout the game on the boards. Rebounded pretty well in traffic and in his area. Offensively he drilled a pick/pop three along with a pair of mid-range jumpers showing nice form. Can put it on the deck as well on a shot fake/baseline take/and-1. Fluid post that runs the floor and looked smooth throwing down a dunk in the pick/roll. Liked the upside here quite a bit. Finished with 14 points.
