With that in mind, we thought it might be best to refresh our memory on these players, continuing with another installment of Eastern NY Gems.
Kaylon Dickson Kaylon Dickson 5'11" | PG La Salle Institute | 2021 State NY | La Salle
Kaylon Dickson Kaylon Dickson 5'11" | PG La Salle Institute | 2021 State NY has become one of the best ball handlers in the whole Eastern half of upstate New York, if not the entire state itself. Dickson has shown impeccable ball control and has few mistakes with it in his hand. He is able to make risky moves to the basket and have them pay off, as his frequent driving in the paint is what stirs up both himself and the rest of his offense.
Dakhari Scheuerman Dakhari Scheuerman 6'3" | SF Ravena | 2021 State NY | Ravena
Dakhari Scheuerman Dakhari Scheuerman 6'3" | SF Ravena | 2021 State NY has been blessed with being taller than most on the basketball court, but that alone does not make a good player. However, Scheuerman has learned how to properly use his height. His 6’4″ frame is enough to get him consistent double-doubles, which makes him a dual-threat on both paints, as well as his versatility, giving him above-average shooting and ball-handling at his position.
Bo Catherwood Bo Catherwood 6'2" | SG Tamarac | 2021 State NY | Tamarac
For Bo Catherwood Bo Catherwood 6'2" | SG Tamarac | 2021 State NY , he has made speed his absolute priority. Catherwood is able to start fast and then accelerate even faster, with or without the ball, to make effective cuts to the basket which give him an open opportunity to score or open up the floor for others. On defense, his speed works the same way, with no defender being able to get past him to the basket.
Owen Kane Owen Kane 6'5" | PF La Salle Institute | 2021 State NY | La Salle
Owen Kane Owen Kane 6'5" | PF La Salle Institute | 2021 State NY has shown that consistency, which is something many struggle with, is something he can get right on a daily basis. On every game, it’s almost guaranteed that Kane walks out with a double-double. Kane is able to hunker down on defense and deny both guards and forwards a free shot while on offense, he essentially cashes in on free baskets due to his side or occasional space.
Aidan Giaquinto Aidan Giaquinto 6'2" | SF Burnt Hills | 2021 State NY | Burnt Hills
Aidan Giaquinto Aidan Giaquinto 6'2" | SF Burnt Hills | 2021 State NY ‘s game can be summed up by being a basketball craftsman. His moves on offense are enough to confuse most defenders and leave him with a much easier shot or layup. Giaquinto is able to effectively change speed, height, and direction to come up with creative finishes that just need to be seen twice, and his knockdown shot adds yet another wrinkle to his game.
