The competition at this event was the highest it has been and was an impressive showcase of all of the talent in the great state of Texas. Be on the lookout for the rest of my content, as I thoroughly cover this event.
Nehemiah Weber 2023 Guard
Nehemiah is a sharp shooting guard with great potential, his overall confidence and ability to knock down shots made him a deadly weapon even on a court with older competition. His shot making ability really stood out this weekend and really put his name on the map. I would like to see him develop as a slasher and facilitator for others. Once defenses recognize his shot making ability, they will be closing out hard, which will open driving lanes to the bucket and hopefully bring a second defender.
Elan Solobev 2023 Guard
Elan is a good initiator of offense; he has good ball skills and can pass to open up his teammates for easy looks. He does not need to dominate the basketball to be effective, he knows how to space the floor and be a reliable spot up shooter in the corner. He can take defenders off the dribble and score in the midrange. I would like to see him work on driving and getting into the teeth of the defense and kicking out to his teammates.
Lawrence Wilkerson 2023 Guard
Lawrence is a quick guard who is great at creating for his teammates. He is fantastic at running the fast break and finding weak spots in the defense. He is great at knowing whose man is trailing the play and directing traffic to get him an open look. He did it multiple times during this event, picking apart full court defenses. He is a confident shooter off the bounce and the catch and can pull up in your face if you go under a screen or give him too much room. I would like to see him work on driving to the basket and finishing over bigger defenders. He is already fearless and is great at drawing contact, but if he can begin to finish shot opportunities with a bigger defender draped over him he will be a coveted asset.
Ethan Satery- Miranda 2023 Guard
Ethan is an undersized point guard who plays with great heart and hustle. He is great at running the fast break and getting to the rim. He loves to attack the rim and draw a second defender and dishing to his teammates. He is a good shooter off the catch and makes defenders pay when left alone. I would like to see him work on his pull up game, and work on getting to his favorite spots in the midrange off the bounce. He has all the tools to become an efficient scoring point guard with good passing ability.
19 Cole Andrews-Heitz 2023 6’0 Guard Vista Ridge High School
Cole is an efficient scorer who is great at getting to the rim. He is a knockdown shooter at all three levels, but especially in the corners and the wings. He can score in numerous ways, off the catch, fading away in the lane and showing of an impressive pull up game. I was blown away by his ability to score the basketball, especially against such stout competition. Lookout for this kid to have a big-time season, he has all the tools to be a big-time scorer at the next level.
