Continue ReadingThe Great Western Classic in just its early stages has been the top tournament in the west as it pulled some major players from the West to come and play against some of the best local talent. We had some hoopers show up and show-out from Vegas, Arizona, California and Colorado to name a few.
The local talent was ready to play as we saw some great play from some solid players.
6’4 SG Ducan Reid (Skyridge)
Duncan is a Division 1 SG that could really spread the floor. Duncan had a heck of an effort against Bishop Gorman who had length, speed and athleticism to throw at him and even at that he was still able to knock down some shots and keep Skyridge close against a National Powerhouse. Duncan can really find his spots and hit with a quick release. When he gets pushed off the the 3-point line he has been effective off of a one or two bounce pull-up. He can also side step and hit with great accuracy.
6’9 SF Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT (Alta)
This kid continues to improve his game. Jaden was lights out against Cream City as they had no answer for him in the mid-range as he lite them up with a barrage of move from one footed fade-away jumpers to multiple move one handed push shots and hooks. Was extra smooth with the three-ball. Jaden is really turning the corner and he is a player that would be a major addition to a team looking to have a crafty W/SF.
6’11 C Adam Stewart Adam Stewart 6'11" | C RSL Academy | 2022 State UT (RSL Academy)
Adam was solid!. He has a really good back to the basket spin to his eft that he often ends up finishing on the other side of the rim. Ib due time that move will turn in to a major dunk. Adam did great reading the double-teams that were sent to him and finding the open man. With a recent ACT score of 33 every high academic institution will be calling.
6’4 G Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT (Farmington)
Collin was playing at a high level for 5 games as he was drawing every teams best defender out in the perimeter. Collin was still able to get his own as he is hitting consistently from deep and all of that space that defenders need to cover opens up big lanes for him to get by. He had some impressive dunks against some impressive defenders. Collin continues to improve, especially on the defensive end of the floor. His explosion getting to the basket was on display. Collin is a HM prospect and proves why every time he laces it up.
6’9 SF Carter Welling Carter Welling 6'10" | PF Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT (Corner Canyon)
Carter is a force inside as he finds ways to haul in rebounds. He is impressive on the break as he can fill the lanes with high IQ. He was the recipient of some impressive lobs that he flushed down on defenders. This kid has a lot of potential to really make a major impact. He communicates out on the floor on the defensive end and he gets the ball out of his hands to get the break started.
