Continue ReadingDBA Elite may be a new AAU program in New Jersey, but it is a team that should not be overlooked. The program is filled with talent across the board, especially in the 2023 class. The rising sophomore group is a bunch filled with potential and should make a big impact at the varsity level this season. Here are the top 2023 standouts from the DBA Elite session yesterday.
Jake Croce Jake Croce 6'5" | SF Notre Dame | 2023 State NJ , 6’5 SF Notre Dame
Croce had an all-around solid practice as he showcased his ability to impact the game in multiple ways. The 6’5 forward was drilling jumpers as he showed off his nice shooting stroke. Croce did not just stay on the perimeter as he was able to put the ball on the floor and finish around the basket. He ripped down rebounds and moved his feet well on the defensive end. Croce is a skilled wing prospect who is a breakout candidate in the CVC this season.
Antwan Bridgett Antwan Bridgett 5'9" | PG Trenton | 2023 State NJ , PG Trenton Central
Bridgett had a big showing at the DBA Elite session as he was in control from the beginning. He was dominant in the hostage 1-on-1 drill as he routinely got to the basket. Bridgett has a tight handle which he used to get into the lane. He has a smooth shooting stroke and does not need a lot of time to get his shot off. Bridges is a tough lead guard who should help Trenton Central in a big way this season.
Franklin Jones Franklin Jones 6'5" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 SG/SF Rutgers Prep
Jones was one of the most intriguing prospects at the session as he showcased his full skillset. The lanky 6’0 wing can take his defender off the dribble and made a beautiful two-handed scoop layup in traffic. Jones is more than just a driver as he is capable of knocking down perimeter jumpers. He works hard on the defensive end and was unafraid to scrap for rebounds in the 11-man break drill. Jones is a talented wing prospect who should be fun to watch for Rutgers Prep over the next couple of years.
Raja Coleman Raja Coleman 5'9" | PG Peddie | 2023 State NJ , PG Peddie
Coleman had a strong showing at DBA Elite as he proved to be one of the toughest covers during the live drills. The diminutive guard was tough to keep out of the lane as he routinely got by his defender. Coleman was a crafty finisher around the basket as he made several different types of layups during the session. He was more than just a driver as he made people pay for giving him space on the perimeter. Peddie needs someone to replace Xavier Pina and Bennie Blunt in the backcourt and Coleman looks to be the guy.
Tristen Guillouette Tristen Guillouette 6'9" | C George School | 2024 State PA , 6’7 C Westampton Tech
Guilloutte was one of the few big men in attendance, but he proved that he is more than just a post player. The 6’7 forward showed off his ability to play on the perimeter by knocking down a couple of three-pointers during the shooting drills. Guilloutte plays with good footwork down low and has a nice touch around the rim. He ripped down rebounds on both ends of the floor and used his length to block shots. Guilloutte is a skilled big man who should have a breakout season for Westampton Tech this season.
