DALE CITY, VA – There was an overwhelming amount of talent in the gym during Session 1 of the Breathe Again Seen Circuit. Here is a full notebook with observations from throughout the day.

There are several promising young prospects to keep an eye on at St. Anne’s Belfield. Class of 2022 wing [player_tooltip player_id="962785" first="Justin" last="Taylor"], the headliner who is highly regarded at a national level, was impressive but there are a few others worth noting as well. 2023 guard [player_tooltip player_id="992531" first="John" last="St. Germain"] looks the part and backs it up with his play. 2023 post prospect [player_tooltip player_id="999617" first="Carter" last="Lang"] is developing nicely and tracking among the top players in his class at the position. 2024 guard Chance Mallory is a skilled sniper with serious moxie.

Guard Matchups Galore

[caption id="attachment_1065186" align="alignnone" width="300"] Green Run’s [player_tooltip player_id="697140" first="Jacob" last="Cooper"] got after it on both ends relentlessly.[/caption]

The gym was buzzing because of all the intriguing guard matchups that were manifesting. The day started with a fierce battle between a pair of 2021 guards, Richmond pledge [player_tooltip player_id="798691" first="Jason" last="Nelson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="697100" first="Quadir" last="Pettaway"] of Miller School. Fireworks were going off throughout the day. 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="992530" first="Trevor" last="Smith"] of Woodside and 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="697140" first="Jacob" last="Cooper"] combined to form a savvy and formidable tandem who wreaked havoc. And the closing act between Maryland-bound [player_tooltip player_id="897404" first="Paul" last="Lewis"] vs. highly regarded 2022 standout [player_tooltip player_id="787667" first="Jayden" last="Epps"] did not disappoint.

Iona Commits Stand Out

[caption id="attachment_1065187" align="alignnone" width="300"] Iona is getting a good one in [player_tooltip player_id="687573" first="Kenard" last="Richardson"][/caption]

[player_tooltip player_id="687573" first="Kenard" last="Richardson"] shined as a result of his pure bucket-getting ability and his toughness. His teammate [player_tooltip player_id="793098" first="Ikechi" last="Chantilou"] showcased tremendous versatility and athleticism while playing an efficient brand of basketball.

540 Mavs Loaded With Shooters

[caption id="attachment_1065190" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="798739" first="Cam" last="Cormany"] is a hidden gem from the 540[/caption]

[player_tooltip player_id="798739" first="Cam" last="Cormany"], a class of 2021 guard from Radford, was probably the most effective perimeter shooter in the gym today. Spotswood’s budding 2022 wing Carmelo Pacheco along with 2022’s [player_tooltip player_id="815622" first="Trey" last="Gillenwater"] (Eastern Mennonite), Patrick Clevenger (James River), Brooks Hadagorn (Roanoke Catholic ’21), Ayrion Journiette (Northside ’22), and [player_tooltip player_id="798723" first="Jamonte" last="Smith"] (Patrick Henry ’21) were all hitting from deep. This team combined to shoot 16 of 27 from behind the arc in one game.

2021 Sleepers Impress

[caption id="attachment_1065191" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="798688" first="Jaylani" last="Darden"] impacts the game on multiple fronts[/caption]

There are a handful of kids who would’ve quite frankly seen their recruitment explode this summer had there been an evaluation period. [player_tooltip player_id="798688" first="Jaylani" last="Darden"] (Norview), [player_tooltip player_id="798698" first="Quentin" last="Livingston"] (King’s Fork), Elijah Kennedy (Green Run), [player_tooltip player_id="748763" first="Christian" last="Moore"] (Cape Henry), [player_tooltip player_id="957897" first="Cam" last="Edmonds"] (Western Branch), [player_tooltip player_id="697137" first="Caleb" last="Kenney"] (Douglas Freeman), [player_tooltip player_id="957890" first="Xzavier" last="Long"] (Virginia Academy), and Dom Stamford (Kempsville) fit in this category.

Long-Term Prospects Show Promise

[caption id="attachment_1065192" align="alignnone" width="300"] Remember the name, Keyon Giles.[/caption]

[player_tooltip player_id="815590" first="Kenyon" last="Giles"] (Oscar Smith ’22) is one of the more dynamic 6’0 and under guard prospects that you’ll find. He hit a game-winner today that was not easy and will continue to be must-see tv in the 757. [player_tooltip player_id="962789" first="Davin" last="Cosby"] is a nice 2022 perimeter prospect from Benedictine with a smooth offensive game and a willingness to hit the boards. California native Cole Webster has moved to Virginia for the upcoming high school season, and college coaches might want to get out to Smith Mountain Lake and see this 2022 prospect as soon as possible. He’s a graceful athlete with an intriguing skill base to go along with a growing 6-foot-7 frame. Eli Delaurier (Miller ’24) absolutely bossed the paint area. He made it a point to run the floor hard on every single possession which was outstanding.
