Before we get to it keep in mind this is for 16u teams, not for 16u teams that played up as they had a few older guys on the team, or 16u age players that played 17u all year. True 16 and Under squads.
NHR 16U First Team All State
Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN of Grassroots Sizzle (South St. Paul). Dodd was the best all around player I saw this year from Minnesota that played consistently at the 16u level. His possession by possession drive, regular consistency, and ability to play both spots has people salivating about what he could be. Led Sizzle to a great summer.
Brady Helgren Brady Helgren 6'8" | C Edina | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (Edina). On a balanced team Brady was one of the team leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, and and defensive shot contests around the rim. Helgren is comfortable facing the basket and skilled inside and out.
Nick Katona Nick Katona 6'6" | SF Shakopee | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (Shakopee). The Fury put together several undefeated weekends and challenged some of the best 16u and 17u teams around with solid results. Katona was the best player on the team and the most feared scorer. To make him even more valuable, Nick was a top defender.
BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN of D1 Minnesota (Mankato East). When it comes to potential on this list, few if any can match what BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN can do on both ends. There is a lot about BJ that makes one think about a Both Gach, Amir Coffey style player. BJ is still learning about his full potential on both ends and this summer took steps towards reaching it.
Sammy Presthus of D1 Minnesota (Edina). When it comes to game by game consistency, Sammy Presthus provided something what Coach Jon Williams could trust. Handled the ball at the games in pressure spots, defended well, made sure all the bigs had the right touches, and knocked down his percentage of looks.
Willie Wilson Willie Wilson 6'2" | CG Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN of Grassroots Sizzle (Minneapolis North). Wilson’s ability to push the pace and make every opposing team’s mistake a basket ranks with the best. He also took on a couple roles for the Sizzle that helped them win games and that was high effort pressure defender and clutch shot taker/maker.
