It also featured several accurate snipers. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top shooters from the event.
Max Kadlec 6’2 SG Team Build Up 2021 – Caught team build up play on Saturday. Kadlec was one of several sharpshooters on the squad. Textbook form combined with a quick release. He knocked down several 3’s in the game I saw.
Malik Thomas Malik Thomas 6'3" | SG Damien | 2021 State #99 Nation CA-S 6’4 SG Team Build Up 2021 (#6PHN 2021) – Thomas is automatic in catch and shoot situations. He doesn’t miss much, off the dribble either. He showed the ability to shoot it with range all weekend.
Caleb Nelson Caleb Nelson 6'7" | SF Carlsbad | 2021 State CA-S 6’6 SF Coastal Elite Slayers 2021 (#58PHSC) – Nelson showed that he can do a little more than shoot, but his bread and butter is his sweet stroke. Was terrific in catch and shoot action throughout the week.
John Christofilis 6’5 SG Washington Supreme 2021 (#7PHW 2021) (featured image) – Coming into the weekend, several people told me that Christofilis was the top shooter on the west coast. He did nothing to disappoint. His 3 point shooting is deadly, but what pushes him to the top of the list is his mid-range. Christofilis routinely lifted defenders with shot fakes, then dribbled in to bury shots from mid-range.
Nurese Minow 6’3 SG Hard 2 Guard 2021 – Minow has terrific form. He is more efficient when shooting it in the corner, but he showed this weekend that he is definitely a guy that can stroke the basketball.
Damian Ruiz Damian Ruiz 6'2" | SG Linfield Christian | 2022 State CA-S 6’2 Gamepoint Supreme 2022 (#74PHSC 2022) – Ruiz proves time and time again why he is one of the top shooters in his class. When left open he consistently knocks down 3’s.
John Connolly 6’6 SF Team Build Up 2021 – The one thing TBU didn’t lack for was shooters. Connolly is a long rangy sharpshooter who knocked down several 3’s in the game I watched. Does a good job at early shot prep and has a consistent release.
