Over 200 players were participating in this event with, according to the director, there were 188 coaches tuning in and watching online over the weekend.
There weren’t a whole lot of younger players there but 4 of them really shined.
Here were some of the sophomore standouts I viewed:
Tyce Paulsen Tyce Paulsen 6'5" | SG Curtis | 2023 State WA Curtis (WA) (Pictured)
-One of the top shooters I viewed and is known as the top soph shooter in Washington from his class. He has an ultra quick release and can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He is a smart passer and can make plays for others with a high feel for the game. He is super patient to set up his shot vs a defender.
Jackson Shelstad Jackson Shelstad 6'0" | PG West Linn | 2023 State #55 Nation OR West Linn (OR)
-A slick ball handler is a dead-eye shooter. He releases his shot in a blink of an eye and is super consistent with it. He is a little on the smaller side but makes up for it with his speed and skill. He has a nice handle and can pull-up anytime he wants off the dribble. Many of his shots are off the catch but he can also pull-up from mid.
Ky Green Ky Green 6'6" | SF Liberty | 2023 State AZ Dream City Christian
-A very good athletic and live body. He hits 3’s and he can straight line drive to score it. He covers a lot of ground on defense with multiple positions from the 1-4 keeping him on the floor. He rebounds well and has natural upside.
Derrius Carter-Hollinger SF 6’3 Foothills Christian (CA)
-The younger brother of Derrian Carter-Hollinger has a nice upside. He is still only 15 years old and is already almost as tall as his brother. He is a little skinny but is a natural athlete and a fluid mover. He rebounds well in and out of area and throws his body around and was on the floor many times trying to make a play. He can handle the ball like his older brother and is already sneaky athletic.
