AAB Super Bowl: Senior standouts: Part-2

September 12-13 I attended the All-Academic Basketball Super Bowl. This group goes into many cities in the US and came through to Phoenix at the Phhacility. Over 200 players were participating in this event with, according to the director, there were 188 coaches tuning in and watching online over the weekend.

Here were some more of the senior standouts I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id="680215" first="Derrien" last="Carter-Hollinger"] Foothills Christian (CA) (Pictured)

-Super versatile player is a triple-double threat without being that knockdown shooter. He is a very good driver, has plus athleticism, he is a good defender and is an incredible passer. He plays like a point forward and versatile to defend multiple positions. He is a capable 3pt shooter but can improve moving forward. He can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble.

[player_tooltip player_id="809673" first="Max" last="Majerle"] Arcadia

-Majerle hasn’t played a real game in a long time but as the weekend went on, he got better and better. The lefty has nice bounce to throw down easily above the rim and he can hit the 3pt shot. He can create a little for himself but is mostly a straight line driver with a little wiggle. He is a run and jump athlete that can shoot the 3 and is a competitive on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049667" first="Caleb" last="Geisendorfer"] Phhoenix Prep Post Grad

-A post grad player from Florida. The lefty forward has a pretty stroke from around 17-feet as he seems to be almost automatic from there. He can play a little with his back to the basket and create a shot for himself inside. He seems most comfortable facing up and has sneaky bounce to play above the rim on the break and he is a good passer. He has good length to rebound and is active near the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="804762" first="Anthony" last="Garza"] Phhoenix Prep Post Grad

-A high level rebounder and he is one of the more active players using a big time motor to disrupt many plays on defense. He can face-up from the 3pt line but is best from mid-range and in. He is a good passer and he brings his hard hat to every game played.

[player_tooltip player_id="705654" first="Tanner" last="Poeschl"] Phhoenix Prep Post Grad

-A long and lean forward who is one of the better defenders in space out there. He moves his hips so well and when [player_tooltip player_id="680223" first="Luke" last="Turner"] was playing well vs the team, Poeschl switched to him and slowed him down as well as he could. He is extremely athletic to dunk the ball, including one dunk over Nathan Bittle on the break. He closes out to defenders and he is a high level rebounder and shot blocker out of his area. He can make the 3pt shot off the catch and just has a versatile game.

Sebastian DePrez C 6’8 Claremont (CA)

-A very good rebounding post player can score it inside. He has an Incredible build/strong frame/wide shoulders to rebound the ball. He also blocks shots and moves well up the court. He gets up high for rebounds and the lefty can face-up from mid-range occasionally.

Nicholas Watkins SF 6’5 St. George’s (WA)

-A super athletic quick-twitched athlete has an incredible second jump. He rebounds the ball well and plays way above the rim on the break. He runs the floor really well like a guard and was liked by most coaches in attendance. He can make 3’s off the catch but likes working from mid and in.

Jecone Trobel W 6’3 Arcadia (CA)

-A rugged downhill wing that loves contact. He works best from mid-range and in but he is a capable 3pt shooter. He is very active on defense with rebounding, blocking shots and grabbing steals. He is a streaky perimeter deep shooter but has a strong frame/build.
