Yeah, it’s still early, but this class has a lot of potential and there could more than 10 top 100 players in the country in the state of Tennessee.
Hopefully, a high school basketball season takes place, so I can see more players in the class. As of right now, I have seen a good percentage of prospects to realize which ones could move up once the player rankings are updated.
Here are five players who could move up.
Regale Moore, Bartlett: Moore checked in at No. 58 in the first 2023 player rankings. The 6-foot-2 combo guard logged in a lot of minutes for the Panthers and had flashes of being a solid player. Moore isn’t afraid to attack the basket. He’s not afraid to take big shots during a game. Moore is effective on and off the ball. If he continues to develop, Moore will end up as a top 30 prospect.
Andre Watson, Arlington: Watson checked in at No. 59 in the first rankings. The 5-9 point guard can handle the basketball. Watson is smart at finding open driving lanes. Yet, he needs a consistent jump shot. A consistent jumper will make Watson much more difficult to guard. He can crack the top 45.
Anthony Medlock, Arlington: Medlock is one of my favorite players in the class so far. He has a chance to be really good. Medlock is a 6-2 shooting guard with bounce. He doesn’t like to settle for shots. Medlock is always looking to take the best shot. He’s still working on a consistent jump shot, which is what he needs to play on the wing. Medlock is already in the top 15 at No. 12. If he continues to progress, it will be hard to keep him out of the top 10.
Devaki Garr, Ensworth: The 5-10 point guard had a productive summer with EAB. As of right now, Garr is one of the most efficient 3-point shooters I have seen in the class. Not only can he knock down shots from deep, but he sees the floor well. Garr has the ability to initiate the offense and get his teammates some nice looks. He’s already in the top half of the rankings at No. 25. Garr could move some more, close to the top 20. I expect Garr to be one of the best guards in Division II-AA this upcoming season.
Jamarion Harvey, Memphis East: I mentioned Harvey in my last story. The kid has potential. Harvey is already efficient from 3-point range. He puts forth the effort on the defensive end as well. He currently sits at No. 10. Harvey’s progression could improve his chances of moving up. It will depend on him.
