2021 Rankings Update: Stockboosters

<p>After the strangest offseason ever, the 2021 rankings have been updated. Given the conditions, PHC made it a point to see as many players as possible rather it be a tournament, small group workout, or showcase –we made it a point to check in with almost every player.</p> <p>For the Class of 2021, having a travel season nearly ripped away, players came out hungry and eager to seize the moment and take full advantage of the stage.</p> <p>Here is our latest rankings update, and here we focus on the stock boosters that turned it on this season and summer.</p> <h2><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="965751" first="Joah" last="Armour"] – Manitou Springs</strong></h2> <p>Armour is another player that had a solid season that many were not able to see. Armour was the leading scorer for Manitou Springs in a season that they went 19-5 for the year. Armour put up 14 points a game and also showed to be a versatile wing that was not afraid to mix it up with the bigs. Armour is a 6’7 wing that shoots the ball well, and he also has a back to the back game. His inside-out game makes him a difficult player to defend, and he also is very athletic. This summer, we saw him in private workouts and various tournaments and saw a player that affects the game in multiple ways. He excels in isolation situations and can create for himself and others. He is confident with the ball in his hands but also plays within the flow of the offense. He moves without the ball, rebounds in bunches, and is an agile big that gets out in the open court. He uses his athleticism and length for dunks and blocks and makes the jump to No. 38 in the rankings. With a big season, I think he continues to rise.</p> <h2><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="966339" first="Jaden" last="Kennis"] – Windsor</strong></h2> <p>Kennis is a player that stood out this summer as we had the chance to see him up close. As a junior, Kennis was one of the consistent forces for Windsor as he put up a balanced 10.7 points and 5.4 rebounds a game. He is a multi-sport athlete that takes that toughness and physicality he plays with on the gridiron and brings it to the court. Kennis is a tenacious defender with strong hands, uses his body, and has excellent footwork. He makes the opposing guard work for every single thing that he has, and that turns into him getting out for easy scoring opportunities on the other end. Offensively, Kennis is a guard with excellent body control, and he is an aggressive finisher that lets the defender feel it. He scores in bunches and fills lanes correctly. Kennis is an X-factor type of player that brings energy on defense and also does the small things on offense. He sets hard screens, finds holes in the defense, and also hits the open 3-pointer. He jumps from being a player that we did not see too much to being in the Top-40 players in the class.</p> <h2><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="965754" first="Colin" last="Westfall"] – Lewis-Palmer</strong></h2> <p>Westfall was Lewis-Palmer’s best player last season and the teams leading scorer as he put up 14.8 points a game. Westfall also dished out 3.8 assists a game and was not afraid to do the dirty work on one of the better rebounding teams in the state with 3.8 boards as well. Westfall is a balanced scorer and sniper from deep that shot 42% from beyond the arc. Opposing teams wanted to make sure that they knew where he was at all times, and he showcased that he did not have to score to be effective. The 6’0 scorer found a rhythm offensively to close out the season, and that is when Lewis-Palmer was at their best. As stable of a scorer as Westfall is, he is just as committed on the defensive end. Westfall plays with great energy and stays in front of his man. He gets his hands on loose balls, steps over as a help-side defender, and also can defend multiple positions. Westfall is a player that we wish we got to see more of this summer as I think he would have made more of a jump but already comes in as a favorite to jump even higher by our next update.</p> <h2><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="917029" first="Jimmy" last="Starry"] – Boulder</strong></h2> <p>Starry had a solid season as a two-way option for Boulder last season and helped the Panthers rack up wins by playing the right way. Starry is a combo-guard that is comfortable with the ball in his hands, makes the right play, and is a willing passer that sets screens, cuts, and also can score the ball. The 6’1 X-factor put up 8.8 points a game and was a player that the team leaned on during the final stretch of the season. He has seemed to work on his game this offseason with the Colorado Titans and had a great showing the few times that we saw them this summer. For the Titans, Starry is a swiss-army knife that is used in every single way. He got out in the open court and was difficult to slow down; he knocked down the 3-ball and got to his spots. On defense, he provides energy and can defend both guards and wings and has excellent body control for tough finishes. He makes a jump, and we are excited to see how he fares this upcoming season. He makes the jump to No. 60.</p> <h2><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="770450" first="Kolben" last="Barney"] – Palmer</strong></h2> <p>One of the bright spots for Palmer this past season was their junior captain and best player, [player_tooltip player_id="770450" first="Kolben" last="Barney"]. Barney put up a team-high 14 points a game, and even with being the player that opposing teams attempted to slow down, he was able to put his team in a position to win consistently. Barney is a three-level scorer with a smooth shooting stroke and mean floater. He gets to his spots on the floor and can score in bunches. He runs the floor well, uses his 6’3 frame to shoot over smaller defenders, and has a good feel for the game. Barney is a player that can play both on and off of the ball but is best coming off of screens and shooting it. He is a lethal wing with range and when his shot is falling is difficult to slow down. He makes the jump to No.61 and can easily rise with a big season. Small schools should be taking a look at him as he is one of the better wing options in the state.</p>
