August 3rd and 4th Justin Vargas and I put on the 4th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Arizona Sports Complex in Phx, AZ.

104 players from Arizona, California, New Mexico and Michigan battled it out. 12 teams with 8-9 players each.

Each team played 4 games with a possible All-Star game. The All-Star games lived up to the hype with many coaches walking away impressed with what they saw and 6 basketball offers were given out so far.

We will go back and look at each teams players.

Here is Team Stanford:

Top-40 game:

[player_tooltip player_id="809722" first="Jevon" last="Humphrey"] (Chaparral) (Pictured)

-A strong and sturdy framed scorer can score it from all 3 levels. He can create a shot for himself off the dribble and is very consistent from mid to the 3pt line. He uses his handle and build to drive the lane and score it. He is also a smart passer/play-maker and once he does get into the lane and get fouled he is a good FT shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="959025" first="William" last="Betteridge"] (Chaparral)

-A talented shooter with a good feel for the game. He is very patient off the pick and roll and once he waits for the defense to react he makes his move. He is usually bombing away from deep. He has a quick trigger and gets hot quickly from deep range. He is super confident and he doesn't care who he is playing versus. He makes good reads on the court and has a high IQ. The sharpshooter will be much needed this season for the Firebirds.

Non-Senior All-Star game:

[player_tooltip player_id="827011" first="Jalin" last="Humphrey"] (Chaparral)

-A naturally quick ball handler who can score it. He has good open court speed and uses his quick first step to get passed his defender and into the lane to score. He can hit the mid-range jumper off of the dribble and uses his speed and athleticism to pester opposing guards on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="827037" first="Michael" last="Saba"] (Chaparral)

-A quickly improving big man can shoot it to the 3pt line. He has great length and rebounds the ball at a good rate with two hands. He also is starting to be an enforcer as a post defender. He blocks shots at a high rate and uses his strength and girth to hold his ground. His ability to really shoot it and protect the paint makes him attractive for the next level.

Others:

[player_tooltip player_id="959001" first="Will" last="Miraglia"] (Phoenix Country Day)

-A highly skilled shooter has grown in the last year or so. He has a thicker body and he can maneuver his way to the basket and score it or get fouled plus rebounds well in area. He will make his money with his 3pt stroke and he is consistent shooting off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1033115" first="Keelan" last="O’Doherty"] (Chaparral)

-A low post brute is very hard to move. He has incredible strength to move players for position to rebound the ball. He can score it on layups and he is efficient and effective with it. He moves decently and he is nimble to block shots. His strong frame and skill inside should help the Firebirds next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1033116" first="Michael" last="Rafko"] (Chaparral)

-Another Firebird forward can really shoot it from the 3pt line. He has one of the higher acing shots in the class. He has good length and can slither in the lane and use the floater. He can thicken up the next two years but shows nice upside.

Aden DeAguero PG 5’9 2022 (Liberty)

-A quick ball handler who can shoot the 3. He has a faster burst to get into the lane and can make plays for others. He may be a little smaller but his fast shooting release and quicks help him produce in every game.
