Can you believe it’s almost been 3 months since the last rankings? I have been fortunate to have seen a ton of bball and have learned several new names, and watched several other players grow and improve over the last quarter. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top stock-rising PG’s in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="996632" first="Amar" last="Smith"] 6’0 Hard 2 Guard 2021 - I have gained a new found respect for not only Smith, but all the H2G guys. Like many of the players that come from that program he understands, both the developmental aspect of the game as well as the importance of winning. A tough, hard nose PG, Smith played well against tough competition in the Elite bracket a few weekends ago. While that may not seem like a ringing endorsement, it’s more than enough to warrant him a bump up the rankings list.

[player_tooltip player_id="985630" first="Nakalya" last="Fabello"] 5’10 Vikings 2023 (#13PHN 2023) - Speaking of tough there is Fabello. There simply aren’t many young players that possess his physical and mental toughness. A next play type PG that plays the game with the sole intent of helping his team escape with a W. He makes solid decisions, and can beat you with his defense and paint touch ability.

[player_tooltip player_id="1015503" first="TJ" last="McTyer"] 5’7 Iso Elite 2023 - The first thing I need to do is find out what grade McTyer will actually be classified as next year. If it ends up being 2023, then he’s clearly one of the top PG’s in that class. Even if it’s 2022, his scoring and playmaking ability will definitely place him somewhere among that classes rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="985623" first="Karson" last="Roberts"] 5’10 LV Aces 2023 (#11PHN 2023) (featured image) - I absolutely love Roberts feel for the game. He’s the prototypical great at none good at every type player when talking about his skill set. His IQ however is advanced, and he has a great understanding of when his team needs to settle down and take a good shot, not usually easy to do in AAU settings.

[player_tooltip player_id="806816" first="Frankie" last="Collins"] 6’1 SFBA/Oakland Soldiers 2021 - Collins will be transferring in from Compass Prep last season. A high major recruit with this type of explosion and athleticism will clearly make a sizable impact in the local rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="927151" first="Jason" last="Garcia"] 6’2 SFBA 2021 (#65PHN 2021) - Garcia has been lights out this summer. He has showed the ability to play the position traditionally, as well as slide over to the 2 and become a valuable floor spacer. He has a ton of different skills that make him valuable including his shooting, passing, and perimeter defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="712123" first="Elijah" last="Johnson"] 5’10 LV Knicks 2022 (#16PHN 2022) - Look up "Dawg" in the dictionary and you’ll probably find Johnson’s picture. A tough on ball defender, Johnson has terrific lateral quickness, and is an above average run and jump athlete. While he likes to hang his hat on the defensive end, he’s shown shiftiness and enough blow by ability to get into the paint consistently.
