Here were some of the guys who looked good:
Jasper Hedin Jasper Hedin 6'5" | SF Winona | 2022 State MN , MN Lightning Ellerbusch
Hedin’s been terrific all summer, and he was awesome on Sunday for MN Lightning Ellerbusch. There’s a lot to like with him. He’s 6-foot-6, springy, explosive and active on both ends of the floor. He’s smooth as a shot-creator, routinely creating separation from defenders while possessing the ability to elevate for a finish at the rim or in the mid-range. And he puts his long arms to good use on the defensive end of the floor, contesting passing lanes and disrupting potential driving options from his man or as a helper. He’s a promising prospect.
Tyler Swanson, WOTN Johnson
Swanson made a big impact on both ends of the floor Sunday for WOTN Johnson. He’s a scrappy lead guard who isn’t afraid to get into the paint and rebound. He’s a feisty defender who is aggressive putting pressure on opposing ballhandlers while also excelling off the ball. He does a great job creating scoring opportunities for his teammates, showing a strong understanding of where his teammates are when he gets into traffic.
Sam Zilmer Sam Zilmer 6'4" | PF Rockford | 2022 State MN , MN Heat Grow
Zilmer is a big, athletic swingman with great length. He looked good Sunday creating his own shot or shots for others off the dribble. Plays with an understanding of spacing and how to attack rotating defenses. Defensively, he’s got active hands and does a great job deflecting passes, contesting shots and not only guarding his man, but being in good position to help his teammates.
Puolrah Gong, MN Select Mantey
Gong is a long, rangy combo forward who flashed some intriguing skill Sunday. He’s 6-foot-6 with a feathery jumpshot from the 3-point line, the ability to finish in traffic and a knack for cutting and offensive rebounding. He’s a quick jumper with excellent length to contest shots at the rim and while he lacks girth and strength for now, he’s a solid positional defender.
Sam Hoffman, MN Fury Narum
Hoffman looked good Sunday for Fury Narum, showcasing the ability to break down defenders off the dribble and finish over length in traffic. He’s got a strong frame which allows him to play through contact well, and he uses his strength to limit opposing offensive players on the wing.
