49. Jarrell Tatum | Sophomore | Longwood Prep (JV)
Jarrell Tatum has not gotten a taste of varsity action yet, but early indications point to Tatum being a real force at varsity. Tatum, averaging over 20 points a game, made junior varsity defense look silly with his handles as well as frequent penetration. His success comes with his stance, keeping defenders on their toes and more clueless as he can playmake, score, and shoot all at a high level.
48. Samuel Miller | Sophomore | Bronx Science (JV)
Samuel Miller has made a huge jump from his freshman year this season for BxSci’s junior varsity squad. Miller has become the ideal guard and figures to contribute in varsity, with Miller being lights out from three-point range, as well as being an elite playmaker creating opportunities for the rest of his team, while still being able to work all 94 feet on fastbreaks or even on a stand still defense. With added quarantine time to work, expect Miller to make a sizable varsity leap.
47. Leo Deener | Junior | HS of American Studies
HS of American Studies plays in PSAL’s B division, but the level of talent does not diminish. Deener has been a force in the paint for American Studies, and has made his presence felt on both ends of the floor. His size and toughness makes him able to stand up to forwards on defense, while he has been playing as a great rim runner off his screens on offense.
46. Seydou Traore | Sophomore | All Hallows
Seydou Traore has forged himself into a key contributor for the All Hallows team. In a league filled with Division 1 prospects, Traore was able to create his own role in the paint, notoriously difficult especially in harder leagues. Traore has been able to play successfully in the paint on both offense and defense, as well as step to the outside on offense and space the floor. On a young All Hallows team, his role should only increase in his next two seasons.
45. Donovan Diaz | Junior | HS of Information and Network Tech
This season for HS of Info & Network Tech, Donovan Diaz has done just what his team needed, and that is score. Diaz has been tenacious on the defensive end, and when a well timed break from Diaz comes into focus, Diaz is able to make the play and take the ball the other way. Even when the offense is set up, Diaz’s length and movement is able to shift past defenders and make his way to the rim.
44. Zahir Caldwell | Sophomore | Kipp NYC
Zahir Caldwell has been the do-it-all guy this season for Kipp. Caldwell has both athleticism and lower body strength, meaning he brings versatility to a defense and can switch on and off on anyone. Caldwell also has shown an aptitude for fastbreaks and proved that he can take the ball the length of the court, while he has an above average shot and great court vision, clearing passing lanes for his teammates.
43. Arialdy Cepeda Medina | Junior | Morris
Arialdy Medina is another double-double threat who continues to dominate the City. Medina towers in the paint on offense and is able to set up shop there, contracting the defense and making more space for perimeter players. Medina has held his own on defense, being fast enough to participate in pick plays and switch off his man, while on zone, Medina stationed at the rim is enough to drive guards away.
