They went 2-19 while playing a lot of youngsters. Now a lot of those players are getting experience competing with the Kansas Hoggs U16 club.
Watch for this group to try to lead Seaman back:
Kaeden Bonner, 2023, guard:
There’s not a shot Bonner doesn’t like, and he got a lot of quality playing time as a freshman last year. His body is catching up to his skills and he’ll be a key member of the Vikings next year. He is developing into more than just a shooter. He is working hard on the defensive end and trying to compete athletically with players at least one year older than him with the Hoggs U16 team.
Brody Gormley 2022, post:
Seaman is developing a bevy of young guards. But they lose Drayton Foster Drayton Foster 6'4" | SF Seaman | 2020 State KS and Eric Patterson in the lane. They will really look to the 6-foot-5 Gormley, so it’s good that he’s working out with all his fellow Vikings on the Hoggs this summer. He’s got an effective shot from the perimeter, but his bread-and-butter is his power and effort on the glass. He is solidly built and ready to bang with anyone in the lane.
Ty Henry Ty Henry 6'3" | SG Seaman | 2022 State KS , 2022, guard:
Henry got a ton of playing time as a sophomore for the Vikings, and he’s a natural leader for the Hoggs. He isn’t backing off opportunities to press the issue – he drives for shots more frequently than he did in the high school season. His 6-foot-3 frame and point guard skills make him somewhat unique. He took some lumps on the Vikings, particularly facing full-court pressure. Improving his three-point shot would really elevate his stock.
Mateo Hyman Mateo Hyman 6'2" | CG Seaman | 2022 State KS , 2022, guard:
The Hoggs’ U16 club is loaded with guards, but Hyman is probably the closest thing to a true point guard. He occasionally flashed highlight-caliber playmaking as a sophomore for the Vikings. Like Henry, he brings a ton of experience and leadership to the summer team, and like Henry, he could really benefit from improving his shot from the perimeter.
Kaden Ireland, 2022, 6’0, forward:
Ireland will use his athleticism and energy to try to earn playing time on the Seaman varsity next year. Like Gormley, he didn’t get much last season. For the Hoggs U16 team, he gives a ton of effort and is unselfish. For a smaller forward, he battles on the boards. And there’s no question about his defense. He makes up for size with quickness and toughness.
Casen Stallbaumer, 2022, forward:
Stallbaumer is different in his physique and skillset from Gormley and Ireland. He therefore could provide an alternative at forward for the Vikings. At 6-foot-2, he’s versatile and athletic. He can shoot it from deep, but also drive and score. He’s smooth but doesn’t lack for effort. He’s solidly built, but able to keep up with the speedy summer competition.
