The talent in 7AAAA is taking a big step forward. Duluth East is a state title contender while Andover and Forest Lake will be much improved.

Five Best

[player_tooltip player_id="774785" first="Calvin" last="Foy"] of Andover. [player_tooltip player_id="774785" first="Calvin" last="Foy"] is about to be a three year double figure scorer in the Northwest Suburban Conference and that can not be said about that many guys. He’s a solid shooter, quality defender, and overall Calvin is a true under the radar talent.

AJ Kaul of Blaine. AJ Kaul seems to have hunger for the game and a feel as a scorer that is not many players have. This is why as a sophomore Kaul was one of the main two options for Blaine, and this is also why AJ is scoring in binging ways for the Crossfire right now.

[player_tooltip player_id="774755" first="Noah" last="Paulson"] of Duluth East. Paulson is a player that I have really grown to appreciate this summer. He looks to have grown to 6-foot-9 and Paulson seems to have outstanding footwork based on the video we saw from last weekend and over the winter. Good defender but also the main guy that Duluth East ran a lot of the offense through/around. Two years averaging a double-double.

[player_tooltip player_id="774801" first="Mattie" last="Thompson"] of Duluth East. Thompson is a good sized wing at 6-foot-6 that is also quite agile, bouncy off the floor. Scored 20 points a game as a junior using his agility to get to the right cuts, to get up the floor ahead of others, and to actively find ways to produce high percentage baskets around the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="958677" first="Will" last="Van Scoy"] of Duluth East. Will is entering his junior year, but also his third year as the Greyhounds starting lead guard. Will is at his best when he gets to the rim and makes play but he balances that well as the main distributor. Paulson and Thompson don’t have the years they do without Will’s backcourt direction.

Next Five

[player_tooltip player_id="958786" first="Nick" last="Bartlett"] of Forest Lake. Lead guard that has caught our eye this summer, we think he will have a big junior year.

[player_tooltip player_id="774888" first="Jordan" last="Boysen"] of Forest Lake. Boysen is more like a first five guy following a 13 point per game year and having a nice summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="957221" first="Connor" last="Braaten"] of Cambridge-Isanti. Connor is one of the only guys returning for C-I that has experience. He averaged nine points and seven boards a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="962246" first="Ben" last="Kopetzki"] of Andover. Ben is on the verge of being one of the better shooters in Minnesota, his approach is confidence and aggressive.

[player_tooltip player_id="962227" first="Samuel" last="Musungu"] of Andover. Samuel scored four buckets a game as a frosh and physically is ready for an even bigger role next winter.
