Continue ReadingIn an effort to provide new and unique ways to cover prospects, we thought it would be important to give some coverage to those that might not always get it. To do that, we will be digging deep into each conference in the state.
We will be breaking down each conference starting with the Class of 2021 first to show college coaches who they need to be placing a value on heading into the year.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these seniors-to-be catch the attention of prospective college coaches.
Trae Swartz Trae Swartz 6'4" | SF Ottumwa | 2021 State IA – Ottumwa
In terms of the top player in the CIML Metro Conference, it starts with Ottumwa’s Class of 2021’s Trae Swartz Trae Swartz 6'4" | SF Ottumwa | 2021 State IA
Swartz led the team in scoring at just over 23 points per game, shooting almost 56 percent from the field and 48 percent from the three-point line. He finished with 509 total points, 139 rebounds, 14 steals and 12 blocks, knocking down 52 triples in all.
Swartz has received college interest from a number of schools from various levels.
Malik Allen Malik Allen 5'11" | PG Des Moines North | 2021 State IA – Des Moines North
A nice Class of 2021 duo for Des Moines North begins with Malik Allen Malik Allen 5'11" | PG Des Moines North | 2021 State IA .
Allen, a guard, scored over 26 points a night for the Polar Bears a season ago, shooting almost 47 percent from the floor and 40 percent from long-range. He recorded a total of 448 points and led North with 88 assists.
Along with his scoring and dishing, Allen also had 94 rebounds and 47 steals, making 72.5 percent of his 138 free throw attempts. He finished with 56 made triples in 17 games.
Diondre Taylor Diondre Taylor 5'10" | PG North | 2021 State IA – Des Moines North
The second piece to that tandem for Des Moines North from the Class of 2021 is Diondre Taylor Diondre Taylor 5'10" | PG North | 2021 State IA .
Taylor scored 423 points with 68 rebounds, 50 assists and 17 steals last season. He shot 44.5 percent from the field and 83.3 percent at the charity stripe, knocking down 37 three-pointers.
Following a season winning, the Polar Bears should have high hopes with the return of these two talented players.
Jakari Bradley Jakari Bradley 6'1" | SF Roosevelt | 2021 State IA – Des Moines Roosevelt
Des Moines Roosevelt will need a new leader this coming winter and Class of 2021’s Jakari Bradley Jakari Bradley 6'1" | SF Roosevelt | 2021 State IA fits the mold.
Bradley scored 182 points last season, which ranked second on the team. He also had 77 rebounds, 33 assists and 26 steals.
Along with shooting 54 percent from the field, Bradley also knocked down nearly 60 percent of his 70 free throw attempts.
Jaden Loveless – Des Moines Hoover
It was a tough season for Des Moines Hoover a year ago, as the Huskies went just 8-14 overall.
However, the team returns a bulk of the production including Class of 2021’s Jaden Loveless.
Loveless was a starter in all 22 games, scoring just 94 points in all. However, he led the team with 97 rebounds, adding 32 assists, 14 steals and a handful of blocked shots.
The majority of his points came from long-range, as 21 of his 33 made field goals were three-pointers, finishing at almost 40 percent shooting from deep.
