Last Thursday night I went to Skyline Prep to view the Pangos Best of Arizona League ran by Dinos Trigonis of CA.

He has 8 talented teams of 8-10 players on each team. (Some were out of town in CA and didn’t attend this week).

And they will be competing for around 3 weeks on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Each team plays once a night and eventually every team will play each team once.

I will review all 8 teams’ standouts this week.

We now look at the Nuggets:

[player_tooltip player_id="809722" first="Jevon" last="Humphrey"] (Chaparral) (Pictured)

-A sturdy scoring guard has strength and skill. He can hit the deep ball and loves the mid-range pull-up. He can hit the 3 probably best off the catch but has ability to shoot it off the dribble. He keeps improving his ball handling and passing. He uses his length and strength to defend his position and collect steals.

[player_tooltip player_id="827011" first="Jalin" last="Humphrey"] (Chaparral)

-A slippery quick guard who can pull-up off the dribble. His mid-range game is more advanced then his 3 right now and has speed with the ball to push the tempo and make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id="959025" first="Will" last="Betteridge"] (Chaparral)

-A 3pt specialist for the Firebirds is a savvy player. He is a very good catch shooter and has real range on his jumper with a quick trigger. He is a smart play-maker and has high effort on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id="932396" first="Markes" last="Siekam"] (Chaparral)

-A bouncy forward can throw down on the break with ease. He seems to step on a trampoline and get off the floor so easy. He can shoot it from the perimeter and is an active rebounder in his area.

Anthony Lucas PF/Defensive End 6’5 250+ 2022 (Chaparral)

-A four-star defensive end who is already considered a NFL Prospect. He is only going to be a junior and he is one of the stronger kids you will see playing hoops. He has huge hands to rebound along with his thick build and girth to fight any human being from position. He can face-up and hit the 3 and is light on his toes to move in space. He shockingly also plays baseball making him probably the best all-around athlete in the AIA from his class.

Notes:

I watched this week on Baller-TV and noticed [player_tooltip player_id="959956" first="Kyle" last="Johnson"] (Shadow Mountain) playing well. He has dramatically improved his jumper and can comfortably hit the 3 off the catch. He has good length at almost 6’5 and rebounds well in his area.
