SLC has produced some great talent in the past few years. The last notable players from Salt Lake County that has a shot to play at the highest level beyond college as of late is Bingham Alum Yoeli Childs (BYU). The talent coming back next year has a long way to go but there are a lot of notable players.
In this first installment we take a look at a few players that are already known and are a must see. A freshman that finds ways to score and could have a bright future ahead. Two stud SF/W that have developed over the years and a guard that is looking to really pick it up next season.
6’9 Carter Welling Carter Welling 6'10" | PF Corner Canyon | 2021 State UT (Corner Canyon)
Carter is the typical player that is a late bloomer but has the potential to play at a solid Division 1 school and make an impact. Carter has not only experienced literal growth as he is now towering at 6’9 but growth with his skill development. He is a tough player to defend 15 feet and in. He is also a threat from the outside as well.
6’9 Jaden Brownell Jaden Brownell 6'8" | SF Alta | 2021 State UT (Alta High School)
Jaden is also another player that kind of blew up his junior year. Heading into his senior season Jaden should turn more heads as he has the ability to score from all over the court. He has that Division 1 type game as he has size, strength and length. His skill goes beyond the basket. He has developed a nice 15 foot game. He is a player to go watch in person. He will have an excellent senior year.
6’4 Ben Kryskowiak (Olympus)
Ben had a good season putting up 11 points a game in his first year at Olympus after transferring from Brighton. Look for Ben to be more comfortable in the open system and he should increase his production on the floor. He will be a big part of Olympus’ success. He is another player with size for a guard who can do a little bit of everything on the floor.
5’11 Quentin Meza Quentin Meza 6'0" | PG Cyprus | 2023 State UT (Cyprus High School)
It’s been awhile since Cyprus has had a prospect to come watch but Quentin is that player. With teams keying off of him we are excited to see his growth and how he handles that type of play. Quentin finds ways to score on runners and outside jumpers. Look for him to add more to his game this up-coming season.
