Continue ReadingThe NCAA has shut down all viewing periods for college coaches until at least July 31st. While they are reportedly working on some dates for August and/or September, many teams are still looking for ways to get their players some exposure and Prep Hoops is here to provide that. We did a series of club team previews for multiple other teams early in the Spring and we will now shift to another team for this June. The focus of this article will be on the Friends of Hoop 17u squad. FOH Seattle is still in a holding pattern as far as whether they will play or not this Summer. As with many programs, they are waiting for things to unfold with the NCAA and college coaches being allowed to go out and scout at events. We hope to be able to see this group in person, but without further ado, here is the scheduled roster for FOH’s 17u team.
FOH Seattle 17u Roster:
2021 6’7 SF Hudson Hansen Hudson Hansen 6'8" | PF Bellevue | 2021 State WA (Bellevue HS) – Long, jack of all trades. He can play every position. Really high basketball IQ and feel. Excellent shot blocker and overall defender. Excellent half court scorer on short drives and in the post. A prospect college coaches need to see due to his upside!
2021 6’7 SF Champ Spencer Champ Spencer 6'7" | SF Sumner | 2021 State WA (Sumner HS) – Big shooter that can really get going. Attacks close outs well. Physical defender. Another college prospect with upside. 3 and D potential for a 4-year program.
2021 6’6 SF Carter Korab Carter Korab 6'6" | SF Jackson | 2021 State WA (Jackson HS) – Solid, long, athletic lefty. Good spot up shooter. Finishes everything around the rim. Has really nice touch on his hook. Very good rebounder in the paint! Sleeper in the 2021 class.
2021 6’2 G Cade Gebbers (Brewster HS) – Shooter/Scorer. Good length for a guard. Has a really good feel for the game and is a high level decision maker on the offensive end. Uses his length on defense to get deflections.
2021 Timmy Crandall (Issaquah HS) – Pass first point guard. High level vision and the ability to make every pass. Has a nice pull up 3 with a quick release. Pesky on defense. Son of the Issaquah girl’s head coach, Crandall shows a strong passion for the game.
2021 6’2 G Garrett Long Garrett Long 6'2" | PG Wenatchee | 2021 State WA (Wenatchee HS) – Tough nosed scoring guard. Has a really solid first step and a number of different finishes around the basket. Has solid range on his 3. A stock riser in the 2021 class this past Winter!
2022 6’9 PF Cooper Church Cooper Church 6'10" | PF Tahoma | 2022 State WA (Tahoma HS) – Long, athletic big. High level shot blocker. Highly skilled on the offensive end with the ability to shoot the 3 and handle. A clear Division 1 prospect in the 2022 class.
2021 6’6 SF Casey Jones (Mater Dei HS) – Strong, physical athlete with a high motor. Aggressive on the offensive and defensive ends. Makes big plays. Can shoot the spot up 3 and has the ability to score in the post and off the bounce. (*pending on location)
Coaches’ Outlook
“This team is filled with a number of guys that have a great feel for the game. We are long and should be tough to score on around the basket. If the ball moves well there are a number of scoring threats with a balanced offense that can shoot it and score in the paint.” – Donald Brady (FOH Seattle 17u HC)
Scout’s Outlook:
This is a team I really looked forward to seeing play this Spring/Summer. This team has a really nice mixture of length and shooting ability. This group would legitimately be able to run a 5-out offense with Cooper Church Cooper Church 6'10" | PF Tahoma | 2022 State WA at five spot. I believe FOH 17u would have been regionally competitive this year and a tough out when knocking down the three point shot and locking in as a unit defensively.
