There was a lot of incredible talent all weekend and was a great showcase of the elite talent the state of Texas has to offer. Be on the lookout for the rest of my in-depth analysis from this tournament!
Treshon Clay- 6’1 Westbury Christian, Texas Takeover Major 17U
Treshon is a ferocious finisher at the rim who finishes through contact with ease. He showed great awareness and hit his teammates in stride with tough cross-court passes to break full-court presses. His passing ability jump-started a lot of his teams’ offense this weekend as a result of his heads up and crisp outlet passes. On the defensive side of the ball, he was very scrappy and tied up a lot of ball-handlers when trapping guards in the full court. He spaces the floor well, knocking down a multitude of open shots forcing the defense to come out and contest him. He even had the deep NBA 3-point range when shooting head-on.
Zachary Feller- 6’5 Cedar Ridge High School, Austin Capitals
Zachary is an athletic wing with a true ability to have a team’s entire offense run through him. He is a good scorer at all three levels, and even has a few tricks to clear space for himself in the post both down low and in the mid-range. He showed a real heads up ability to create for his teammates and find them open looks.
Jake Simpson- 6’4 Brazoswood High School, Texas Takeover Kemp 17U
Jake is a creative sharpshooter with an elite ability to set up his teammates. His passing ability really stood out this weekend and he pulled off many tough touch passes and passes over the top to break presses and even set up his teammates well in the half-court. He is a good shooter when he is spotted up and was deadly when given space in the corner and off the wings.
Luke Robinson- 6’6 Clear Springs High School, DC Kings
Luke has a great scoring ability and showed expertise getting to his shot off the dribble, from three-point range as well as from the mid-range. He has enough ball skills to shift a defender’s weight and pull up in their face from a range of areas around the court. His lanky frame and long arms allow him to get his shot up over virtually anyone. His scoring ability really set him apart this weekend, but his game is missing the slashing aspect. He needs to get stronger with the basketball when going up with it at the rim, and he will become an elite force. Keep your eye on this kid to grow and mature his game during his upcoming senior campaign.
Gavino Ramos Gavino Ramos 6'2" | PG Antonian College Prep | 2021 State TX – 6’2 Antonian Prep High School, Next Level Raiders 2021 Elite
Gavino is a very skilled scorer with an ability to score from all three levels of the court, and even has the deep NBA 3-point range to open up the fourth level. He is great at shooting off the catch when he gets his feet set but is also very comfortable shooting off the bounce even coming off crazy dribble move combinations. He showed no fear getting to the rim and finishing through contact, and even had some creative finishes that put your jaw on the floor. He is a great passer and sets up his teammates well for open looks around the rim and fires good passes to his shooters on the wing, right in their shooting pocket. He handled full-court pressure with ease and always seemed to make the right read no matter where he got trapped or felt the defense collapse on him.
