There was a lot of incredible talent all weekend and was a great showcase of the elite talent the state of Texas has to offer. Be on the lookout for the rest of my in-depth analysis from this tournament!
Aron Bizzell- 6’3 Georgetown High School, Fury
Aaron is a straight-up bully on the court, he loves bulling through people and utilizing his strength to overpower defenders and get to the rim. He is strong with the basketball down low but needs work on having that same success with a live dribble. He plays the game so ferociously; he is always looking to bully and get to the rim and is elite when he gets there. He finishes well with both hands and showed good control contorting his body away from contact. He also showed a good ability to create for others, firing good creative passes to open teammates which is despite his head down nature that is his game.
Darian Boyland- 6’3 Village High School, Texas Takeover Kemp 17U
Dorian is an incredibly long and lanky wing with good ball skills and the ability to create off the bounce. He is great out of the triple threat and showed an array of moves on the wing and mid-range. He moves very well without the ball and caught the defense sleeping a multitude of times for easy backdoor looks and open jumpers.
Jonas Carlisle- 6’3 South San Antonio High School, FAOT All Stars
Jonas is a sharpshooting wing with a smooth looking jumper who is deadly when given room. He has the scoring ability to fill it up on any given night and the awareness and ball control to run an entire offense. His decision making and patience allows him to affect a defense every time he comes down the floor. He keeps his head up to create open looks for his teammates when he has the focus of most of the defense. He is a good rebounder and has the ability to turn on the jets and take the ball from rim to rim. He makes good decisions in the full court by making crisp outlet passes and creative passes over the top of full-court presses that hit his teammates in stride.
Joshua Chesney- London CC, SABO Gold
Joshua loves absorbing contact and is great at finishing at the rim. He is a great athlete with incredible leaping ability. He is a good rim protector for his size and is great at rotating over to throw back shots at the rim, after his opponent beats his teammate off the dribble. He has great vision and a real ability to see things before they occur. He loves to set up his teammates for open jump shots and easy opportunities at the rim. He has a guard like ability to handle the ball yet and a heads up nature to his game.
Braedyn Dawes- 6’3 Vista Ridge High School, ProSkills Austin 17U
Braedyn is a great shooter off of a live dribble, who has creative dribble moves to free himself from defenders. He is a great finisher in traffic and contact never seems to bother or disrupt him. His lanky build and quick jumper allow him to shoot over even intense on ball defense. He is a great shooter off the catch and showed an elite heads up ability to knock down shots as the trailer option. If he gets his feet set from anywhere around the arc, he is a pretty deadly shooter. I would like more action in the mid-range, as well as some back to the basket work to really open up his game.
