Brian McKeown (2021) | Newton
McKeown was the top shooter in Sussex County with 62 made three’s. He made a season-high eight three’s in a late season win over Kittatinny. He had 17 games with multiple three’s. As a senior, McKeown will be considered one of the top deep ball threats. Defenses will have to know where he is at all times and have a hand up.
Derek Simpson Derek Simpson 6'3" | PG Lenape | 2022 State NJ (2022) | Lenape
Simpson was one of the top players in Sussex County this season. He scored 525 points for an average of 18.1 points per game as a sophomore. He could score at all three levels and that includes the three-point line. Simpson knocked down 31 three’s and finished the year with 85 made free throws. He is truly a dominant force on the offensive end.
Jason O’Brien (2022) | Hopatcong
O’Brien showed up for his sophomore season as one of the best shooters, not only on his team, but in the county. He led Hopatcong with 34 three’s this season and that number will rise next season. He is a marksman that can take over a game from deep.
Aaron Fantasia (2021) | Newton
Newton will have two returning players that are lethal from deep. First it was McKeown and now it is Fantasia. He led Newton in scoring with 506 points for an average of 18.7 per game. He is a dynamic scorer and that was true with 47 made three’s. Newton has a strong duo back for the 2020-2021 season that they have to be happy about.
Tanner Rossi (2021) | Kittatinny
Kittatinny is losing Brian Plath which means Rossi will have to step up into the leader role. He was already an upperclassman on the team but now he will become the main option. Rossi was one of the top scorers on Kittatinny and his jump shot was a big part of it. His enhanced role next season will not be an issue.
Chris Ross (2023) | Wallkill Valley
In year one, Ross emerged as a strong shooter and threat on offense. He began early scoring 14 points and knocking down multiple three’s in his third career game. As years go on, Ross will become even more dangerous. Expect to see a big jump from all three levels in his sophomore season.
