SubscribeBrooklyn contains 147 high schools, each filled with high school talent. When looking at the 2021 draft class in Brooklyn, the only word to describe it is “loaded.” This class contains talent everywhere, from players fighting to make a JUCO roster to players already bathing in Division I scholarship offers. The talent is so steep that when talking about the best players, it’s hard to leave players out. We have narrowed the field to 56 juniors, and here is the ranking and analysis on players #16-9.
16. Jackenson Edme | Tilden Educational Campus
Jackenson Edme has been a monster for Tilden this season. Edme has been a steady force in the paint, being one of the league leaders in rebounds and personally controlling the paint. His height makes his feeds to guards and his close distance shots unguardable, while it also scares and denies both the guards and forwards on Edme’s defensive end.
15. Ebenezer Ofei | George Westinghouse
Like Edme, Ofei has been one of the premier big men in the City. Ofei has been a rebound force on both ends of the floor, grabbing rebounds on defense to start fastbreaks as well as putting back his teammates misses on the other end of the court. Ofei can open up the floor with athletic and strong screens while making powerful moves to the basket to give Westinghouse an easy two points.
14. Andre Willams | BCAM
The guard/forward for BCAM, Andre Williams realized that his team needed to win and he put the game in his own hands all season. Williams became the unquestioned team leader this season, and should be a force to be reckoned with come senior year. Williams showed he can do everything, from lead the offense to superb defense to rebounding on both sides of the court, and most importantly, scoring from almost anywhere on the offensive end.
13. Tahron Allen Tahron Allen 6'4" | SF BK Collegiate | 2021 State NY | Brooklyn Collegiate
Tahron Allen Tahron Allen 6'4" | SF BK Collegiate | 2021 State NY transferred to Brooklyn Collegiate this season after two successful seasons at St. Raymonds, and it is safe to say that Brooklyn Collegiate got what was advertised to them. Tahron Allen Tahron Allen 6'4" | SF BK Collegiate | 2021 State NY can go against both bigger forwards and quicker guards and speed and body them to get an open shot in the lane. Allen has a knack for starting fastbreaks off of rebounds, and has the rare ability to hit in the clutch, especially with a great game-winner against Boys and Girls HS this season.
12. Jaheem Tyson | Harry van Arsdale Educational Campus
Tyson, the guard from van Arsdale, showed that he can be the number one option on offense. Tyson would be active on the defensive boards, and once he got his rebound, defenders would blink and he would be gone. Tyson would already be well on his way to speeding own the other way for a fastbreak. In a standstill formation, Tyson can guide the offense and distribute the ball to maximize scoring as well as constantly pound the defense with his speed and ballhandling.
11. Kevin Frias | Boerum Hill School
Kevin Frias has earned his scorer badge, and it wasn’t easy. Frias had to come in game after game, but each time he would leave having torched the other defense, regardless if he won or lost. Frias would enter a game and no territory would be blocked from him. Even with a towering big in the paint or a quick guard, Frias could still penetrate and score from close range as well as keep shooting from mid and three-point range.
10. Kavarn Hollingsworth | Nazareth
Kavarn Hollingsworth has impressed this season in the CHSAA. This season for Nazareth, Hollingsworth showed that he can be a point guard. His speed would instantly turn a defensive stop into offensive points, and Hollingsworth can still speed past defenders even if a defense is set up. Kavarn can also run the floor on a regular layout, with him being able to both shoot from distance and make the right pass to the right person.
9. Darion Guillot Darion Guillot 6'1" | SG Automotive | 2021 State NY | Automotive High School
Darion Gulliot has shown tremendous athleticism on both ends of the floor on the glass. Guillot uses his height and vertical to grab balls that are thought to be out of ones reach. On defense, this can lead to quick transition points while on offense, he can easily put back a teammates shot. Guillot can also pound defenses with active movements and crafty post up plays, making him a tremendous scoring threat from both mid and close range.
