The recent postponement of the Spring Grassroots season has given me ample time to review some players that I had limited access to during the high school season. After going over numbers and reviewing film from the last year, I found several players who flew under the radar. When the grassroots season does return, they should be evaluated closely.

[player_tooltip player_id="859641" first="Damion" last="Byrd"] 5’10 PG Silverado (#6) - While his impact may not be reflective in the numbers, Byrd was a good facilitator and on-ball defender while at Silverado. A high IQ team-first player, that consistently makes winning plays. He only played 9 games for the Skyhawks last season, so I was certainly looking forward to watching him during the grassroots season.

[player_tooltip player_id="928927" first="Jacques" last="Williams Jr"] 6’0 PG Arbor View (#40) - Williams will be an interesting litmus test of the JV experience. Here is a kid that dominated at that level, his being on JV is a testament to the program being built at Arbor. He has the speed and quickness of modern-day PG’s, however, I’m really looking forward to seeing how he plays when the game is sped up, whether during the grassroots season or on varsity next year.

[player_tooltip player_id="859655" first="Parsa" last="Hadjighasemi"] 6’2 SG Carson (#15) - All I know about this guy is that he gets buckets. Had 10 games with 15 or more points this season. Hadjighasemi is a high IQ guy that can also create plays for teammates. Only know his numbers and what I’ve seen on film, can’t wait to get eyes on him.

[player_tooltip player_id="859647" first="Fredy" last="Vargas"] 6’2 SG Rancho (#14) - It was not the best year for the Rams, as the young team managed only 4 wins. However, their win total was not due to Vargas’s lack of production. In his first opportunity as the Alpha, the sophomore shooter put up a respectable 13ppg. He also showed that he’s capable of bringing it every night, scoring double figures in 17 games.

[player_tooltip player_id="928923" first="Gianni" last="Rodriguez"] 6’3 SF Sierra Vista (#34) - Rodriguez is going to be a definite player, you heard it hear first. He has a nice feel for the game, and even though he played limited minutes he did manage to have an impact in his time on the floor. Rodriguez put together back to back double-digit games against Del Sol and San Pedro.

Sir John Hawkins 6’2 SG Somerset Losee - Hawkins contributed in his 15 games played last season. Losee is lead by the terrific talent [player_tooltip player_id="797143" first="Ray" last="Daniels"], however, Hawkins still managed to put together several quality games including 12 against Pahrump Valley.
