Here is a look at some of the top guard/wing prospects in Nor Cal in the class of 2021.

6’6 [player_tooltip player_id="775753" first="Nigel" last="Burris"] - Archbishop Mitty, San Jose

Burris is a long and athletic wing who runs the floor well. He is a capable ball handler who can make plays off the bounce, including the ability to pull up in the half court. He shoots it well with 3- point range but can be streaky at times. Burris can also play the four and can post up/dribble operate on the block. He’s also a solid driver and a fairly good rebounder. He can be inconsistent at times, but Burris has mid major potential.

6’2 [player_tooltip player_id="775751" first="Tyree" last="Gill"] - Burbank HS, Sacramento

Gill is an athletic two guard who can score at all three levels (perimeter, mid-range, at the rim). He handles and passes it fairly well and he is effective finishing in transition. He is a difficult matchup because of his versatility. Gill is a low plus prospect.

6’3 [player_tooltip player_id="958295" first="Sione" last="Lose"] - Capital Christian HS, Sacramento

Lose is a competitive combo guard with a pretty complete all-around game. He brings a very versatile package to the table on or off the ball. He handles and passes it, makes plays in transition and pulls up well half court. Lose moves fairly well without the ball and he’s a good shooter with 3-range. He can drive- he has a solid first step and a hesitation move. He can run a team and he shows some ability to rebound the ball. He also has a high IQ. Lose is a low major prospect.

6’3 Alex Maze - Sacramento HS, Sacramento

Maze is a long and athletic two guard whose best asset is his ability to shoot it with long range. He can handle and pass it and he does have a pull up game half court. He does a solid job rebounding from the guard position. Maze is a low major prospect.

6’4 [player_tooltip player_id="706291" first="Jaden" last="Phillips"] - Modesto Christian HS, Modesto

Phillips combines athleticism with a solid all-around game offensively. He is thin and needs to develop some bulk/strength. He’s an ok ball handler, he can pass it and he has a solid pull-up game, both in transition and in the half court. Phillips shoots it fairly well mid-range (could increase his range a little) but his shot selection is a little shaky. He is a solid driver with a good first step. He is a capable rebounder at both ends. He can also play one or two. Phillips is a mid minus/mid major prospect.

6’5 [player_tooltip player_id="775748" first="Marsalis" last="Roberson"] - Bishop O’Dowd HS, Oakland

Roberson is the winner of the Dow Jones award for rising stock. The arrow is definitely pointing upward for him. He’s a real athletic guard/wing who can elevate. He can handle and pass it, he finishes in transition and he has a middle game half court. Roberson moves fairly well without the ball and he’s an ok shooter with 3-point range. He is a solid driver with a nice first step who finishes well. He can rebound- very active on the glass and he can block a shot. Roberson is a mid plus prospect with some upside.
