The Review

At the Top – Alexandria earned second place by winning 3-4 more games than we expected considering they lost nationally ranked [player_tooltip player_id="532605" first="Treyton" last="Thompson"] to prep school. But this is still a talented team that won 20 games. Apollo dropped three straight league games during the middle of the year during a rough patch but they still finished 10th in Class AAA and won their section beating Alexandria.

The Surprise – Fergus Falls won the league with a 25-4 record and a two game gap. Because they had a couple setback losses they didn’t quite hit the AA rankings but make no mistake about it they were among the best and were a game away from state. Rocori improved by seven games and was also a surprise including a win over the Otters.

What Happened? I did not expect Brainerd to fall to 9-18 although they had a landslide of injuries and illnesses. The talent was there to do better which is why they got healthy and won five of six but then they fell apart with a seven game losing streak. Then you have Tech who lost 12 or 13 games, fired their coach, brought back last year’s coach to try and circle the wagons but lost 11 of their final 12.
